It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, and great grandfather Bruce Bare Shin Bone “Ikkitstakssin” (Offering), on October 22, 2021, surrounded by close family and friends at the Lethbridge Regional hospital. Left to mourn and carry his legacy are his Children April (Dean) Day Rider and Bradley Bare Shin Bone grandchildren; Justice (Deidre) Day Rider, Joel Day Rider, Nicky Gros Ventre Boy, Hailey Gros Ventre Boy, Kailey Bare Shine Bone, Bailey Bare Shin Bone and Triaa Bishop, Great grandchildren; Carmelo Day Rider, Juju Day Rider Lane Day Rider, Adriena Day Rider, Latrelle Shot Both Sides, Bella Shot Both Sides.
Sister’s: Brenda Bare Shin Bone, Rosabelle Bare Shin Bone, Carmen Bare Shin Bone, Roxanne Bare Shin Bone and Pamela Bare Shin Bone Adopted siblings; Debbie (Rex) First Charger and Noreen Black Plume.

Bruce is pre deceased by his loving wife Carol Day Rider, Parents; Paul and MaryStella (Across The Mountain) Bare Shin Bone, Brother’s; Paul Jr., Patrick, Allen, Sister; Edna, Adopted Brother and sister’s; Reo, Delores, Vivian, maternal grandparents; John and Lilly Across The Mountain, paternal grandparents; Bare Shin Bone and Three Scissor Woman, aunts; Cecile Striped Wolf, Emma Rides At he Door, Lucy Crazy Bull, Annie Bare Shin Bone, Bernadette Hairy Bull, Isabelle Cole, Lily and Mary Across The Mountain, Uncles; Jon Bare Shin Bone and Roger Across The Mountain.

Bruce was raised traditionally with a happy childhood in Issoitapi (Riverside people) in the Levern Community. Growing up along side grandma, Grandpas, and cousins in the river valley, living the down to earth simple life, living in harmony with nature, when everyone spoke Blackfoot. Bruce was known and called to share his knowledge with those wanting to know more about there culture. Bruce was very family orientated and when he was younger he always looked out for his siblings and would play baseball with his sisters Brenda, Carmen and Rosabelle, Bruce was one of the original Blues players. Bruce really enjoyed his Blues music and he also enjoyed playing the guitar, harmonica also enjoyed drawing and beading.
Bruce met the love of his life Carol Day Rider in 1975 and together they began a life as one. They had unconditional love for each other, and together they devoted their life to their children and grandchildren. Bruce and Carol were parental figures to their many nieces and nephews and gave them unconditional love and support.
One of Bruce’s many accomplishments was when he joined the piercing Sundance in 2005.
Bruce will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His loved ones will cherish and honor his memories.

The Wake Service will be held on Tuesday, November 2 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm at the Senator Gladstone Hall in Levern, AB. The Funeral Service will take place at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Wednesday, November 3 at 11:00 am. (Due to COVID - Only 50 people will be allowed into the service) Interment to follow at the Pioneer Cemetery, Levern.
