MORGAN ALVIN BEAZER (1931-2021)
Beloved husband of Nedra Beazer passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday morning, January 31, 2021. Morgan was born in Cardston on July20, 1931 to Alvin and Verda Beazer. He grew up in Beazer, enjoying all the freedoms of country life with his sisters, Norma (Bill) Wellman, Afton (Leo) Toone, Glenna (George) Fairbanks, and his younger brother Grant (Mary Lynn). All but his youngest sister, Geneva (Douglas) Fellows, have predeceased him. There were many Beazer cousins and friends in the small community. There was always another fish to catch or game to play and someone to play it with.
He attended school in Beazer and Mountain View. When the family moved to Cardston he finished his high school, taking another year of Grade 12 so he could play basketball. The highlight of his life was being on the winning high school Golden Ghosts 1948-49 and Cougar 4A basketball in 1949–50. After school he played on the community basketball team- Cardston Maple Leafs which succeeded in winning the Senior B Championship for the Province in the 1958-59 season. He loved to play in the Alberta Summer Gamesas many years as he could in frisbee golf, table tennis and of course, golf. When his knees no longer let him run, the golfing buddies were able to ride the golf carts around the course at least once a day in the summer and lean around the pool table to playing pool-golf in the winter.
Throughout the years he worked for several businesses in town, Cahoon Lumber, B&R Service, Beazer Fuel and others to provide for his family. In the early 1970’s,he ran the new grass greens golf course under the MD of Cardston. When the golf course got moved under Town direction, he worked as a member of the Parks and Recreation for the Town running the skating rink during the winter and golf Course in the summer months. After hours, he managed to maintain a small ranching business on family land in Beazer.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 62 years, Nedra Gay Olsenand seven children: Cheryl (David) Smith, Jim Beazer, Lee (Sandy) Beazer,Shauna Beazer, Allen (Lori) Beazer, Kaylene (Curtis) Lawlor, Brian (Kim) Beazer. Also missing his sense of humor and love are 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren whom he loved to see, and he was looking forward to seeing two more who are expected soon.
He had a strong testimony of his Savior. Morgan and Nedra served a mission in the Canada Halifax Mission for the Church of Jesus Christof Latter-day Saints in 2000-2001, as well as serving in the Cardston Temple many years.
A family graveside service will be held on February 6th, 2021 at the Beazer Cemetery. Family would like to express thanks for the thoughts, prayers, and acts of kindness they have received from family and friends and the support of Legacy Funeral Home in Cardston. They are especially grateful for the tender mercy of his death happening at home and not in the hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic.
