Wayna Mary Theresa Beebe
November 17, 1976 – July 17, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, auntie, niece, grand daughter, cousin and friend. Wayna was born November 17, 1976 in Cardston, AB and passed away July 17, 2022 in Bullhorn.
Wayna was an adorable baby, shortly after she was born Alvine and Joe Beebe brought her home. Wayna was adopted and raised by Alvine & Joe Beebe, biological parents (Elizabeth Yellowfeet-Bighead and Wayne Beebe). Her siblings were praying for a baby and when Alvine brought her home everyone was so happy. Wayna grew up on the Blood Tribe and attended school in Cardston, and graduated from Cardston High School and enjoyed drama, acting and theatre production. Wayna excelled with her education and obtained 2 Bachelor degrees from the University of Lethbridge in Dramatic Arts and Business Management.
One of Wayna’s greatest joys was becoming a mother to Kessler, he was her pride and joy. Wayna nurtured and guided Kessler with so much love, patience and understanding. She enjoyed travelling with Kessler and last month took Kessler and his friend Roxton to Disneyworld. Wayna loved all of Kessler’s friends and treated them like her own. She loved watching Kessler play football and other sports and encouraged him to do well in sports and school.
Wayna was a mommy’s girl, she shared a very special bond with her mom Alvine, they were always together and loved travelling, attending rodeos, and supporting family members in all their endeavours. Wayna spent a lot of time learning from her mom Alvine, her aunts and uncles, and many elders and vice versa they all learned so much from Wayna. Wayna loved and supported all of her nieces and nephews and encouraged them to reach their goals.
Last year Wayna became engaged to Bueford Plaited Hair and together they were planning their wedding, this brought much excitement and joy to Wayna.
Wayna was a visionary and demonstrated her leadership when she went on to work at Blood Tribe Employment & Skills Training (BTEST) for over 25 years. Wayna became BTEST Director in 2006, and oversaw the completion of the new BTEST Centre located in the community of Levern. She was very instrumental in the implementation and development of numerous employment and training programs with the assistance of her team (minions lol). Wayna had many accolades and achievements throughout her career as Director of BTEST, she was admired for her intelligence, persistence and always offered creative solutions to any challenge she encountered. Wayna was an exceptional woman, she has graced countless lives with her determination and resiliency, her drive to help our Blood Tribe community has inspired many students/clients upon every interaction with her. Wayna was a founding member of the Blackfoot Confederacy Economic Development & Employment Table and worked with numerous government partners, leadership, technicians, elders and youth.
Wayna loved Halloween she organized many elaborate Halloween parties in Bullhorn for all the kids. She went to great lengths to find Halloween decorations, she was looking for a scary coffin and couldn’t find one in any store, so she asked the Hutterites to make her one, and the coffin looked so real, and it really scared Alvine. Wayna enjoyed ensuring everyone had lots of fun, with plenty of candy and delicious food.
Wayna leaves to mourn her son, Kessler Shade. Her siblings Patty (Evans) Shade, Sandra (Marvin) Shade, David Shade, Thora Shade, Sandra (Mark) Mashtare, Barry (Colleen) Beebe, Connie Beebe, Casey (Kailey) Wells, Paula Big Plume, Joe (Cheryl) Big Plume, Patty June Eagle Child, Donna Beebe, Pam (Tito) Beebe, Ellie Beebe, Gordon Beebe, and her fiancé Bueford Plaited Hair, step children: Cassius, Grayson, Makaya and Taijah.
