It is with deep sorrow to announce the sudden passing of Cameron Blair Big Head. Blair was born on May 14th, 1985 in Cardston, Alberta. He passed away, at the age of 38 years, on September 23rd, 2023 in Standoff, Alberta. His Blackfoot name is Awakaasahkomapii (Deer Boy). Blair is the second son of Ivyanne Big Head and James Low Horn. Blair was a very rambunctious, happy and mischievous little boy. He was always the ring leader when he and his younger brothers, Charlie and Jovian, got into trouble. Wherever Blair went, Charlie and Jovian were sure to follow him even... to their peril. For instance, there was this one time Blair and his younger brothers got attacked by a swarm of bumble bees. They were playing in the back yard and decided to throw shoes at a beehive. Soon after, they were racing into the house screaming and swatting away the angry bees. The next day, poor Charlie was covered with swollen lumps. That was the day they found out that Charlie was allergic to bee stings. When their grandpa, Peter Big Head, stopped by the next day, he was shocked and asked what happened. To which, Jovian quickly replied, "We got beat up by bumble bees!" Another time, Blair climbed the tallest tree in the neighborhood and when a branch broke, he fell to the ground and broke his leg. However, he was quite proud because at that same time, his uncle, Floyd Big Head, also had a cast on his leg. So, Blair was very happy that he was just like his uncle Floyd whom he idolized. Blair was a natural athlete who was an avid skater. As a young boy, he played hockey in Edmonton. One of the highlights was when Blair and his teammates dropped the puck at one of the Edmonton Oilers games. His love for the game inspired him to build his own ice rink in their backyard. Blair also loved the sports of rodeo and fastball. He played alongside his brothers, Jimmy Big Head and Cory Black Plume for the Moses Lake Regulators at various tournaments in Southern Alberta. In their youth, Blair and his brothers were talented break dancers and he would create elaborate dancing studios in his mom's basement. Blair and his brothers would invite all their friends over to break dance on a homemade studio with cardboard taped all over the basement floor and a string of Christmas lights hanging from the rafters. Blair also had a love of hip-hop and rap music. His stage name was "Blizzy" and he was often on stage with his brothers: Tukk (aka Carl Brave Rock) and Chuck Bones (aka Charlie Big Head) as they performed at Blood Rez Crew gigs. One of the most endearing qualities of Blair was his love for his nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his cousin, Robbie Rabbit's children whom he helped raise and nurture with love. Plus, he loved a clean house and would often spend time keeping Robbie's and his mom's house spic and span! Blair was a kind soul who was full of compassion for others. One time, when Blair's family was living in Calgary, a close cousin, Shawn Big Sorrel Horse, desperately wanted to get home for Kainai Indian Days. Even though he had enough money for bus fare, Blair would not let Shawn hitchhike alone. So, away they went and both made it in time for the powwow! He was not afraid to stand up for someone who was in need of protection and assistance. He had many, many friends both near and far who will miss him dearly. Most recently, Blair joined his mom and great uncle Johnny Bare Shin Bone on the historic Napi's Run 2023 across Canada for Missing and Murdered Women and Men and for Mother Earth. Blair was proud to contribute as he ran a few kilometers in British Columbia towards the completion of nearly 7000kms on Napi's Run. Blair's mother, Ivyanne, is so grateful for all those who were kind and loving towards her son. Especially, uncle Jordan and Susan, who took Blair into their home when he was younger. Also, Grandma Annie could not go too long without seeing her favorite great-grandson, Blair. There were many others whose kindess and compassion for Blair have not gone unnoticed. Blair was loved and will be sorely missed by his huge family and countless friends. However, he is now with his beloved baby brother Jovian and his Great Grandma Annie Bare Shin Bone. Grandma Annie and Blair had a strong special bond and it warms our hearts knowing they are now united in the Spirit World. Blair's family include his parents: Ivyanne Big Head and James Low Horn.
