Leslie Richard Big Sorrel Horse – “Kiayo Ka’ Ki Kinn”
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, bother, uncle, cousin and friend – Leslie. He was called home by Creator and began his journey and to be re-united with his parents and family on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 59 years old surrounded by his family at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Leslie was born to the late Robert Big Sorrel Horse and Dora Many Chiefs on December 20, 1962 on the Blood Reserve, Leslie was the 3rd youngest of seven children. Leslie is survived by his four children: Raven, River (Hailey), Willow and Sage, mother of his children: Tanya Young Man; stepchildren: Allison, Carly, Eli & Latisha; adopted son: Roberto Hunt; Brothers: Lawrence (Angela) and Robert; Sisters: Delia, Karen (Bedford) and Joyce (Sheldon); Auntie-in-law: Sandi Manychief, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and his many friends.
Leslie was born and raised on the Blood Reserve and attended the St. Mary’s Residential School. Leslie lived on and off the Blood Reserve, and he lived his life adventurously and he was never afraid to take risks and met life with open arms. He loved life and those who knew him well, he valued his traditional Blackfoot ways and was especially proud to share and carry his knowledge into his everyday life; Leslie supported and valued the Sundances that he participated in over the years, he was often called upon by Sundance leaders because of his Blackfoot knowledge and skills. Leslie’s a clan member of Aakaipokakaiski (Many Children) aka I’naksiiksi (Small Blankets) and Pottstakiiksi (Choker’s aka Tea Drinking Clan).
Leslie loved the out-doors, playing baseball, participating in ‘Hand-game’ tournaments and listening to music. Leslie was very talented and gifted as a traditional artist, he showered his children with gifts that he created that will be forever treasured.
In the past few years, Leslie was faced with many challenges and struggles, but through it all - he lived a full adventurous life often just trying to make the best of life. Leslie considered many of his friends as family, and the connection he held for his family will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Leslie was always happy to be with his children, and before his passing, he spent some quality time with his two children, River and Willow. Leslie spoke of his future plans with his children, planning what he wants in life once he gets out of the hospital. Leslie shared as much as he can with his children, how to take care of themselves and thrive. Leslie loved his children very much and family, and he will be greatly missed.

The Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, April 8 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. The Wake Service will continue at White Calf Hall, Stand Off from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at White Calf Hall, Stand Off on Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Blood Band Cemetery.
