It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leonard JR Small Eyes/Brave Rock aka baby Leonard at the age of 52 years old on June 13 2023.
Leonard leaves to mourn his grandchildren; Talissa, Shawntia, Ciara, Malikai, Alex, Theo, Lenny, JR, with another one on the way, Isiah, Kyrie, Kyra, Kysiah, Karry, Kelsey, Ilianna. His children; Joan, Travis (Shay), Natasha, Melissa, Whitney, Britney (Mike), Nikki, Kato, Austen, Tyra, Alyssa, Lennie, Jayce, Talissa, Stoney. His sisters; Yolanda, Stephanie, Candace (John). His brothers; Weston (Lurlene), Timothy, Cameron (Sharon). His mother Emma Brave Rock, biological mother Dalphine Small Eyes, Uncles Rocky Brave Rock and Alvin Red Crow, Aunts Maryann Buckskin, Sandra (Chris) Shade, Colleen and Tonya Heavy Runner and his beloved pet Rolly Polley. Leonard was predeceased by his father; Leonard SR; His children; Jarret and Lenny. His grandparents; Ted and Annie Brave Rock, Adam and Alfreda Delaney. Great Uncle and aunt; Reggie and Gladys Buckskin. Aunts Sheila, Delma, Colleen. Uncles; Ross, Rex, Edward, Leslie, Sister Deana, Grandniece Willow. Cousin Andrew and best friend Joey.
Leonard was born November 30 1970 at the Blood Tribe Indian hospital in Cardston, AB. He was raised by his grandparents; Ted and Annie, uncle Rocky and aunt Wanda. He attended Lakeview Elementary, and Gilbert Paterson Junior High. He played hockey in elementary school, practicing at Henderson Ice Rink with his best friend Gary Snedding, he also played football and loved slow-pitch. Ted, Ross, Dad and Emma would take him to his practices and games; he won a lot of trophies. Leonard also liked to ride motorcycles and horses, and even had his own Shetland pony, Cathy.
Leonard was spoiled by his grandparents, uncles and aunties, and had many friends far and near, young and old, and really loved hanging out with his friends. Leonard had a big heart; he loved his kids and really loved his grand-kids. Leonard will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
A Wake Service will be held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve on Thursday, June 22 from 6:00 - 10:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Friday, June 23 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Brave Rock Family Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
