Celebrating the life of Bellina Heavy Runner
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bellina Rose Heavy Runner (Moohki’hinaakii) Red Hair Women on February 4, 2022 at the age of 70 years old. She is survived by her children, Leon, Quenton (Yolanda) Heavy Runner, Corea (John Thomas) Heavy Runner; adopted sons, Kevin Mountain Horse, Raymond Calf Robe, Frank Wolf Plume; grandchildren, Deon, Junior, Sara, Kylee, Denver, Wyatt, Isaiah, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Cassidy, Kaylee, Martina, Wesley (Chyanne) Heavy Runner, Tony, Cheryl, Latysha and numerous great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Lenora, Colleen (Barry) Beebe, Gwen (Wesley) Shouting, Christine, Jennifer Heavy Runner; one brother, Rolland (Rena) Iron Shirt; uncles, Leroy (Harriet) Heavy Runner, Ed Chief Moon; aunties, Christine Shade, Mae Singer, Clara Russell.
She was predeceased by her parents, Chester (Mary & Margaret) Heavy Runner; her children, William, Leo, Leo Wes, Wendy, Cherly; her granddaughter, Nevada Heavy Runner; grandson, Edward Bad Arm; adopted son, Edward Bad Man; uncles, Bill (Josie) Heavy Runner, Andy (Dorothy) Heavy Runner; Lester (Grace) Heavy Runner, Wallace (Eileen) Mountain Horse; aunties, Cecil Spear Chief, Irene Bull Shields, Lucy Prairie Chicken, Stella Crazy Bull, Suzanne Heavy Runner.
Bellina was born at the Indian Hospital to Chester and Mary on January 4th, 1959. She lived on the Blood Reserve all her life. She met her husband, the late Leo Crazy Bull, whom she had seven children, together they worked to build a life for their children. Her children were her priority in her life, she always made sure her children had a roof over their heads and food on the table, whatever they wanted she made sure they had all their needs. Then she met Dorian Calling Last whom she got legally married to. Then her latest husband was Jim Rides at the Door till her passing.
Bellina had various jobs through her life. She worked as an adult care worker at the Moses lake shelter for about a year then she worked at the Trails End, and she worked in Stand off Blood Tribe Building. Those who knew her, regardless what experiences, know she always had time to laugh. Her silliness was contagious.
A wake service will be held at Tanner Senior Centre, Cardston, AB on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 5:00 - 11:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Blood Reserve, AB on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Blood Band Cemetery, Blood Reserve, AB.
