IRIS JACKSON CHALMERS, beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Chalmers, passed away at her home at Lee Crest Good Samaritans, in Cardston, Alberta on December 26th, 2022, one day short of her 93rd birthday.
Iris was born December 27th, 1929 in Hill Spring, AB to pioneer parents Samual Alonzo and Iona Tanner Jackson.
Iris was raised on their family’s ranch outside of Hill Spring until her teens, at which time they sold the ranch and moved into Hill Spring. After high school Iris moved into Lethbridge to take a Secretarial Course. This is where she met Bob Chalmers and they were married on October 11th, 1952. They were married for 54 years before Bob passed away on March 7th, 2007. After Bob passed away Iris moved into Cardston, but always considered Hill Spring to be her home.
Iris is survived by 2 daughters, Sherry (Craig-deceased) Godlonton and
Penny (Wendel) Webster and 1 son, Rick (Raine) Chalmers, 18 Grandchildren and
49 Great Grandchildren. Besides her husband, Bob, Iris was predeceased by one daughter, Patty Chalmers and one son, Randy Chalmers.
Iris was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many various callings. Iris enjoyed the time her and Bob spent as Temple workers and loved all the people they met there.
Iris and Bob were avid gardeners and also enjoyed fishing, especially in Waterton Lakes National Park. They were also Snowbirds who spent many winters in Arizona, where they made new friends and enjoyed the warm weather.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints- Hill Spring Chapel, Hill Spring, Alberta. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 to 10:45am prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Hill Spring Cemetery.
