Rosemary was born on October 21, 1962. Her biological parents are the late Bernard and Sophia Ella Shot Both Sides. She was adopted by her maternal aunt Moyra at a very early age and became Moyra’s dearest and only daughter; Rosemary was deeply loved by her mother Moyra. They had both lived with grandparents Mary and Victor Chief Moon, in the Levern Community. At toddler age she was introduced to the community when her great uncle Harold Chief Moon, would stop in and get her bundled up and go visiting friends and relatives. She traveled extensively with her grandparents visiting relatives, friends, and places in, Montana, South Dakota, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and throughout Alberta. Her grandparents were introducing her to the sacred sites of the Blackfoot territory. Rosemary enjoyed arts and crafts and you would often find her bedroom as her canvas, even as she grew older. She had an extensive LP Record collection, she enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. Rosemary’s first school years were at the Glenwood School in Glenwood AB. Her middle and high school years were spent in Lethbridge, AB. Rosemary excelled in the music band, playing drums and guitar and she was always in school choirs. Rosemary was a daredevil, she loved to speed, especially on bicycles. She was always getting into crazy yet fun situations with her cousins as well. In 1988, she met the love of her life, Rj. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Kayla, and Lorena, and their son Anthony. They later married in the year 2000 with all their loved ones in attendance. When Rosemary joined Rj’s family she fell into place right away and was never shy. Rose and Rj enjoyed going to many concerts, where she would often dance once her favorite song comes on; they enjoyed hanging out with their friends and relatives, hosting many barbeques and anniversary parties. Rose was always the party planner for Rj’s friends and family, often hosting Halloween and New Years Eve parties, making sure everyone felt welcomed to their home, everyone ate and had fun. She enjoyed the company and laughter in her home. Rose loved to have the last laugh at whoever was participating in her party games. It was also well known in the family and community that Rose and Rj were hard core Edmonton Oiler fans. No other sports team was to be advertised in their home; Rose would make sure you felt the consequence. Rj’s family also noticed her soft spot for children. She showed her love for children by adopting many of the Across the Mountain and Crane Chief children as her own. She helped raise many that included Todd, Nora, Cammy, Cassie, Kendra; Lizzie, Aryson & Kuma Across the Mountain. Bernie, Audrey, Marcella Crane Chief, Star & Dylan Black Plume, Tia and Destiny First Charger, Tristen and Zachary Day Rider, Sonya Many Fingers. Rose Mary also enjoyed many of the Across the Mountain family trips in the U.S which included Arlee, Rocky Boy, and Crow Agency Montana, Sheridan Wyoming, Wellpinit, Spokane Washington and Osoyoos B.C. These trips were always full of laughs and she ejoyed creating memories with her family. For a long time. Rosemary always wanted a chihuahua until her wish finally came true and then there was cheechee (her other baby). She would often tease Kayla and Lorena, telling them that cheechee was their brother. Rose also enjoyed hosting many fundraisers with the ATM family and became the canteen boss, she organized and accounted for every product and cent sold and made in the canteen, if anything was missing, she would track it down. The Across the Mountain family will forever be grateful to Rose for loving and taking care of uncle Rj, for showing genuine love and concern for the many children she adopted and for always being a huge part of the family, Rose; your physical presence, famous fruit salad, barbeques, and gifts will be greatly missed. Rosemary had a big presence in all our lives and there was always a big smile for each of us every time we met and that is what should be remembered. Remember her as always laughing and smiling. Rosemary was the rock and strength of her family. Any accomplishment and event they had, no matter big or small, she would be there no matter what. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren unconditionally and she will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
