We the family are sad to announce the passing of VIVIAN RACHEL CRANE CHIEF (Otter Women) “Aamónisakii”. She was born on May 26, 1975 at Cardston, Alberta. She passed away at her home in Stand Off, AB on November 20, 2020 at the age of 45 years.
Vivian is survived by her grandmother Catillda First Charger. Her mother Elizabeth and Martin Vielle; her father Rex & Debbie First Charger. Vivian’s children Rolanda (Brandon) Brave Rock, Trevor (Kirsten) Crying Head, and Roland (Constence) Crane Chief; adopted children Marvin (Shayla) Crying Head, and Nikki Many Fingers.
Vivian’s grandchildren she cherished so much and spoke of to everyone she knew. Tanisha and Brayden Brave Rock; Aaron and Maraya Crying Head; adopted grandchildrern William, Liz, and Payton Crying Head. Siblings Morgan Vielle, Cheryl Crying Head, Elenor (Kevin) Vielle, Rochelle Wolf, and Lillian (Ben) Scout. Trish (John), Rochelle, and Kelsey First Charger, and Vivians’s special friends Kasey Vielle; uncles, Ivin & Murry First Charger, Joe, James, and Norbert Across the Mountain; Garry Fox, aunties, Gayle First Charger, Suzanne (Delvin) Chief Moon, Annie Crying Head, Rita Many Fingers, Veronica Crying Head, Elsie, Jannett, Josephine, and Marlice (Sonny) Vielle. In-laws, Clarance and Wanda (Oliver) Crane Chief. She had numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly like her own children. Vivian received her education in Stand Off and Glenwood, AB.
At the age of four Vivian went to live with her grandma Rachel Crying Head. Her grandmother taught her the traditional way of the sundance. Vivian spoke fluent Blackfoot she got into fancy dancing she travelled throughout Canada and the United States with her grandmother. She danced alongside with her sister Cheryl and cousins Harvey, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Terril. Vivian took care of her grandma until 1996 when her grandmother’s house burnt. Her grandma could not return home because of the sundance traditional ways and values. In 1989 she met the love of her life Roland Crane Chief. They got married September 2, 1994 having five beautiful children together. They worked together at the Bayshore Inn, Waterton National Park. She also worked in Pincher Creek as a housekeeper with her cousin Lorraine. Vivian was very shy; she always had a smile on her face. But once you got to know her she was a very outgoing person. She will be missed dearly from her family and all who knew her.
Vivian is predeceased by her grandparents Sebastian & Rachel Crying Head. Her husband Roland Crane Chief, her sons Rommel and Daniel Crane Chief, brother Albert; granddaughter Haylie Brave Rock; nephews Kerry Guy Day Chief, and Hiesus Spear Chief; uncles and aunties Pete Many Fingers, Teresa and Tom Across the Mountain; Geraldine and Martin Crane Chief.
A Private Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 2nd from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. A Private Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 at 11:00 am. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions no more than 10 people will be permitted into the service. Interment in the Pioneer Cemetery.
