It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of KENNETH “KENNY” JOSEPH CROW CHIEF on September 26th, 2017 on the Blood Reserve at the age of 46 years. He was born in Cardston on January 14, 1968.
Kenny is survived by his beloved mother, Rose Marie Crow Chief; his siblings - Elliot, Edwin, Rhea (David), Rodney (Shirley) and Kevin Crow Chief; his uncles William (Carma) Crow Chief, Patrick Crow Chief, Duane (Wilma) Crow Chief, Leroy Hunt; great uncle Charlie Crow Chief; aunties Georgina Medicine Crane & Corina Crow Chief; great aunties Annie Davies, Rachel Hoof, & Ida Rider; numerous nephews, nieces, & cousins; canine friends Torque & Lilly.
Kenny received his education on the Blood Reserve at the Stand Off Elementary School, St. Mary’s Residential School, and Red Crow Community College. He was always trying to improve himself by signing up for the Life Skills and CPR. He was also part of a Demo Project working under Myron Eagle Speaker.
He was taught to work at a young age. Kenny and his older brothers Franklin and Elliot learned a lot from their Dad, George, working with Ranchers and Farmers on the Reserve. George also taught them about our traditional ways. He was always willing to help out his uncles, aunts and relatives - like doing yard work and fencing’ Kenny never refused to lend a helping hand.
His favorite past times were picking mint, berries, and sage; he also dug up medicine roots for his parents for healing. He like to take walks to visit relatives with his canine friends Torque and Lilly. He also enjoyed playing hockey and was a hockey fan.
Kenny is survived by many relatives from extended families: Williams, Plain Woman, Crow Spreads His Wings, Panther Bone, Bottle, Bull Calf, Calling Last, Rider, Wolf Child, Davies, Hoof, Long Time Squirrel, Medicne Crane, Many Grey Horses, Wells, Eagle Plume, Blood, White Man, Old Shoes, Young Pine, Hairy Bull, Low Horn, Fox, Bull Shields, Mills, Eagle Child, Vielle, Good Dagger, Black Rabbit, Scoiut, Knife, Bad Arm, King, Brown Weasel, Eagle Speaker, Brave Rock, English, Mountain Horse. A Wake Service will be at the White Calf Hall, Stand Off on Wednesday, Oct. 4th from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m.
