At the age of 44 years.
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our son, father, husband, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. Jonathan Pierre Crying Head nickname “Coyote.” Born to the late Curtis J. Rabbit and late Georgette Joan Crying Head. He passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023.
Jon is survived by his loving wife Amelia Crying Head, together 21 years, married 15 years. Children: Tiarra, Hannah, Lil’Jon, Khloe, Justice, & Kobe Crying Head, & Anthony Morning Owl. Stepdad Frank BP. Grandmother: Alice Wolf Child. Brothers: Byron (Heather) CH, Grant (Melissa) CH, Austin CH, Philip (Cara) CH, Brian (Leah) CH, Ruben (Shalane) CH, Leonard (Olivia) CH, Eldon DR, Eugene A, Stacy CH. Sisters: Fran DR, Celeste DR, Kaylee DR, Audry (Guyvaughn) CH, Samantha (Adrian) CH, Patti CH, Shauna DR, Deanna (Mike) DR, Elenor Bad Arm, Shelby YP, & Tanya (Willie) CH. Aunties: Micheline Rabbit, Doreen Aberdeen, Carol Crying Head, Lorraine First Charger. Great Aunties Rita (Pete) Many Fingers, Elizabeth (Martin) Vielle, Annie Crying Head. Adopted Parents: Crystal (Martin) Curly Rider. Adopted Mother: Jackie (Kurt) CH. Uncles: Steven Crying Head (was not just uncle, more like his father), Norman (Stacy) Black Plume, Wayne Day Chief, & Bruce (Trina) Iron Shirt. Great Uncles: Harrison Wolf Child Sr., Jimmy Calf Robe (Doore). Numerous cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Family. Jon’s Relations include Crying Heads, Weasel Heads, Across The Mountains, Gros Ventre Boy, Sweet Grass, Heavy Heads, Wolf Child’s Doore, Calf Robes, Spear Chiefs, Knifes, Shot Both Sides, Many Bears, Prairie Chickens, Rabbits, Crane Chiefs, and Hairy Bulls. We, the family, apologies to anyone that was missed.
Jon was raised on the Blood Indian Reserve, in the communities of Standoff, Moses Lake, and Lavern. In his early years, Jon and his brothers were raised by their grandparents, the late Stephen, and Bertha Crying Head. It is there he learned his positive work ethics, which contributed to his many successes in his life. Jon attended Cardston Elementary, Cardston Jr. High School, and St. Mary’s High School. In his later years he attended Red Crow Community College. He also attended two programs in Standoff, Another Way and Beautification. Jon had a lot of work experiences in carpentry, over 20 years of experience. He got his first experience in working with tools was with his grandpa Stephen Crying Head Sr. In his 20 years of carpentry experience, he worked along side with his brother Phillip CH, and Gary “Butch” ByKlum. He also Worked behind the Moses Lake Shelter and worked with Roy Olson, and at Bouvry’s in Fort Macleod. He worked with all the Crying Head boys, in renovations of houses, roof repair, and at Wolson Constructions. At the time of his passing, he was employment at Bayshore Inn & Suites; he was a housekeeper/handyman.
Jon loved and enjoyed playing fast ball and made sure he was at every game. He played in many fastball tournaments all over Canada. He played on the following teams: “The Guns,” War bonnets, the Blues, The united, The Tribe. Eagle Whistle – third place. Canadians. These were some of the teams he played on. Medals won in Grand Prairie, Winnipeg, Brandon. Every year he would go to these fast ball tournaments. He enjoyed being a back catcher and right-fielder. He won ‘Homerun King’ in 1999 at the Calgary Fast Ball League.
Jon enjoyed listening to music, he would blast his music in his red truck outside his mothers-in-laws place. He had a big heart and loved to share everything with everyone. He would never say ‘No,’ it was always ‘Yes.’ His best man and Friend Timmy Mountain Horse. He enjoyed being with his family and especially loved being home with his wife Amelia and family. He was very close to his baby Justice. Always had her on his shoulders and Justice enjoyed those moments with her dad. Jon married the love of his life, Amelia CH. On his way to work he always was in prayer and read a scripture from the Bible.
Jon was predeceased by his parents, his grandparents Steve Sr. and Bertha Crying Head, Joe, and Celina Rabbit. His Brothers; Sheldon CH & Barry CH, his sister, Donna CH; Aunties: Sylvia, Nellie, Stephanie CH & Brenda and Judy DC. Uncles: Andrew, James, Joseph, Robert, & Homer. Cousins: Mickey Sr. Dustin DR, Matthew CR, Chris and Andrew Jr Rabbit, Vanessa R., Angela R, Ashley FC, Justin EP(R).
A Wake Service will be held at Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Thursday, September 14 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm continuing all night at Beverly Morning Owl’s residence. The Funeral Service will be held at Gladstone Hall on Friday, September 15 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Crying Head Cemetery.
