JOSEPHINE CURLY RIDER,beloved wife of Jack Curly Rider Jr, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2020 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital at the age of 71 years old. Josephine was born August 15,1948 at the Blood Indian Hospital to the late Alfred & Maggie Eagle Plume. Josephine was a very loving person to each and everyone and loved to be around family and loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Josephine and Jack were foster parents for forty years and throughout their time together they have raised numerous children in their loving home and still to this day they remain a part of their lives. Josephine was very fortunate to be raised by loving parents and they supported her at an early age when Josephine participated in various sports such as rodeo where she competed in ladies barrel racing and was a part of the Canadian Rodeo Cowgirls Association in 1966. At that time and era she was able to compete with her other siblings Louise, Margaret and the late Catherine Red Crow and also the late Carrie(Maryalice) Eagle Plume. Josephine and Jack have been together for 53 years beginning in 1967 and were married in 1977 since then they have worked for the Lord for 45 years. Josephine along with Jack have hosted yearly camp meetings and supporting local camp meetings and have shared their knowledge of the Lord with family and the community of the Blood Reserve in hosting their own Christian service in the community of Little Chicago. In addition, Josephine supported her loving husband Jack in his pastoral duties in various parts of Canada and United States, places such as Montana, Arizona, Texas, Washington, New Mexico and Colorado to name a few including parts of Western Canada. Josephine also taught herself to play piano and 12 string guitar and utilized her talents at church services and at various camp meetings that they were invited to teach the word of our Lord. Josephine was employed with Kainai Arts and Crafts in the 1970s and 1980s under the tutelage of Joyce Bruised Head/Little Moustache. She was also employed with Cardston/Magrath shirt company. Josephine and Jack became members of the Blood Reserve School Bus Coop and she became the sole driver of K10 for 25 years and she was well received by her precious students and the teachers of TMS and KHS. Schooling: St. Mary's Residential School, - Glenhill Jr. High School 1966 - Day School. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Jack Curly Rider Jr. and her loving children Steven (Deedrie), Marilyn (Darcy), and Charity (Tawan) and their grandchildren; Denica (Jesse), Denzel (Morgan), Cale, Ashton, Zoe, Mackenzie, Skylar, Josiah, Elisha, Elijah, Marla, Marnie, Pias Tore, Anashe Tore, Great Grandchildren; Shooter, Lorrenzo, Ezra, Annika, Jada, Harley; Sisters: Louise E.P, Margaret (Joe) Knife, Joanne (Philip), sister-in-laws Bernadette, Beatrice (Dan); brother-in-laws Martin (Judy), Stephan; Nieces & Nephews: Pamela E.P, Wanda (Andrew) Day Chief, Deanna (Kelly) Day Chief, Monica (Robert) Beebe, Joseph (Reesa) E.P, Kevin (Chelsea) E.P, Terry, Kenny (Sherry), Leanne (Medric), Heather (Byron) Crying Head, Merlin (Lorna), Joyce (Donald), Joey, YvetteRed Crow, Miranda (Allen), Juanita, Marlene, Darlene, Elroy Eagle Plume, Sandra, Karen, Aileen, Ann-Marie, Robin CatFace. Extended children; Joyce GVB, Richard, KJ Vielle, Byron Austin, Grant, Stacey, Kaitlynn, Josie, Tessie Crying head, Albertine, Nelley Black Plume, Ryan Bird, Kirk, Leann Crow Eagle, Felicia Little Shields, Sierra, Alyssa, Zoey Blood, Ashley Heavy Runner, Jaquelynn Stabsdown, Jessica Good Dagger, Chelsea Knife/ Mountain Horse. Special Friends: Rhonda Weasel Head, Jaime White Quills, Maxine Good Striker, Judy Fox, Rose Mary Chief Moon. Josephine had numerous friends, we apologize if we have missed any however; we will list in Honorary. Josephine was pre-deceased by her Parents Alfred & Maggie Eagle Plume; Brothers Alex, Joe, Herman, Patrick, Morris; Sisters, Rose-Mary, Carrie (Mary-Alice), Catherine; Niece & Nephews; Freddy, Dexter, Daryl, Wesley EP, Jimmy RC III, Calvin CF, Albert BP,Christian Knife,Vivian Cat Face; Uncles, Chief Jim Shot Both Sides, Harry Spear Chief, all from the Blood Reserve. Additional Family include the Across the Mountain, Bare Shin Bone, Long Time Squirrel, Wolf Child, Wadsworth, Shot Both Sides, Spear Chief, and Plain Woman families.
A Private Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 am with a private viewing from 9:30 - 11:00 am. Interment in the Pioneer Cemetery
