Marilyn Curly Rider, Saoki’aakii (Prairie Women), beloved husband of Darcy Knife, passed away January 26,  2022 in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 42 years old. Marilyn was born on July 21,1979 at Cardston Hospital to parents Jack (Josephine) Curly Rider, Marilyn’s biological parents were the late Glen Black Horse from Siiksiika and the late Carol Calf Robe from the Blood Reserve. She is survived by her beautiful children Mackenzie, Skyler, Josiah, Elisha, Elijah, Marla, Marnie; and her siblings Steven (Deidre) Curly Rider and Charity (Tawan) Robin (Tanya), Amanda (Timothy) Calf Robe from the Blood Reserve, Shawna, Charnell and Andy Bull Bear, all from Siisiika and the late Benjamin Calf Robe. Marilyn had a lot of adopted siblings due to her parents Jack & the late Josephine her foster parents. Marilyn was known by her amazing powerful voice; she was always praising the Lord and as always helping everyone she could and being right with the Lord. Marilyn was an extraordinarily strong woman. As a young lady she went to school in Glenwood and Cardston from elementary school to junior high, and was also best at track & field during that time. She won many medals and beat many records in the shot put. I don’t know how you feel on daily struggles but Marilyn, the women who made so many differences and changes on so many lives, tried her absolute best in anything. An incredibly beautiful strong soul, understand we will prepare each other, be there for each other, we’ve lost too many and if we pay attention on what’s true and important then we’ll give each other the strength to continue. I know this woman with all my heart regardless I know she tried her best to be a great mother, sister, grandmother. And to abstains from the body is to be present with the lord. Have peace in your heart and always remember what’s important; don’t be so quick to jump on things that won’t matter because life is very short, and we lost too many people to not appreciate our little moments and of course our loved ones. Known for her humor and silly faces, and for her crafts, her own jewelery, she always made sure everyone was included, her heart of gold, she loved her grandchildren Harley Joyce Herrera, Kya Joyce Bull Calf, EJ Bull Calf, and another one on the way. She was very excited to hear the news from her daughter Elisha, she loved to travel and talk about all the crazy stories she had made on the way, no matter the day, she worked hard for those she loved and cherished. Aunties Bernadette, Beatrice, Louise, Margaret (Joe); Uncles Stephen Curly Rider, Raymond Calf Robe;  Marilyn did everything at the kindness of her heart. Marilyn enjoyed traveling with her parents to various parts of Canada and the United States, places such as Montana, Arizona, Texas, Washington, New Mexico, and Colorado to name a few including parts of Western Canada.
Marilyn was pre-deceased by her Mother Josephine Curly Rider, biological Parents Glen Black Horse and Carol Calf Robe, Brother Benjamin Calf Robe; grandparents, Jack & Maggie Curly Rider, Alfred & Maggie Eagle Plume, stepson Levi Knife, aunty Teresa (Patrick ), Carrie (Maryalice) Eagle Plume, Pauline, Molly, Faye Calf Robe the Family apologises for any names missed – she came from a  very large family.
