CARMEN ASHLEY DAY RIDER (March 27, 1987 to September 19, 2016)
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Our Baby Carmen was called home to heaven on September 19, 2016. Carmen was born on March 27, 1987 to bring beauty and laughter to her mom Carla Day Rider, dad Warren Hunt, especially her grandpa Steven who she called dad, her aunt Bernadette who became mama B. From the moment this beautiful baby girl born with two front teeth and no hair, she became such a blessing and has brought so much joy in her lifetime. During her first year and a half of her life, her aunt Carmen (who she was named after) was a huge part of her life. They were inseparable and so after her aunt passed away, Carmen seemed to be the miracle of hope family needed.
Carmen attended Levern school from kindergarten to grade 5 then from grade 6 to grade 9 elementary school in Glewood and graduated from Cardston High School. She participated in school activities and excelled at basketball. During junior high school she participated on the volleyball and basketball teams representing the Glenwood Vikings, then onto high school to play with the Cardston Cougars. Carmen loved playing basketball and so she would participate in the Blood Tribe recreational basketball activities for which she won numerous awards and recognitions.
She had various employment such as Issoitapi store in Levern, Bayshore Inn in Waterton Lakes National Park, Superrette in Standoff, and Scotiabank from approximately 2008 to present. She enjoyed traveling with family members for church, basketball and softball tournaments, she mostly enjoyed traveling to watch her two older boys play hockey who she was so proud of, especially their accomplishments.
Carmen grew up in Little Chicago and most days she would run back and forth between Papa Leo and Mama Bernadette’s house to Grandpa Jack and Grandma Maggies and then to the old white house where her papa Steven lived and all the while she would have her blanket dragging behind her. She often would secretly take a pair of high heels from her mama B and again walk back and forth in them until she was done and just place them on the steps and run back home. Family was everything to her, and in her every conversation she always had something to mention, whether it was about an auntie, niece, nephew, cousin, mom, papa, brother or sister. She would always mention something and one day in class she was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, her reply was “I want to be like my mom Bernadette, she takes care of sick people, and she does it because she loves people so I want to be a nurse.” Carmen felt safe and protected because she had “big sisters” and often said, “I can boss them around because I’m their baby.” She absolutely adored her mom Carla, loved her papa steven so much, he was everything to her. She often would say something like “let’s go to my papa’s, he’s hiding a jar of pickles in his room for me.” She grew up to have many close friends and also many families welcomed her into their homes. She was a feisty little woman who also had a silly attitude and always had a laugh for everyone. Like the time her cousin Tannis asked her to be her bridesmaid, her response was “oh finally a bridesmaid instead of a flower girl.”
A little girl with a beautiful heart, a smile so bright and a tiny hug full of love will forever be missed by her family, especially her three beautiful sons, Kasey Jr. and Karter Russell, and Josiah North Peigan, her husband Fabian North Peigan, mother Carla Day Rider, father Warren (Jennifer) Hunt, mama Bernadette Wolf Child, papa Steven Curly Rider; siblings, Alden (Samantha), Zachary, Trystin, Franchesca (Latrell), Celeste (Zack), and Kailee Day Rider, Brianna, Samantha, and Margaret Hunt, Francis, Martina and Sunshine Day Chief; special sisters, Norma (Marlin), Sarah (Gilbert), Martha, Marsha Wolf Child, Nieces; Alexandria, Dylan, Teely, Nephews Dante Young Pine, Tylen Day Rider, Aunties Wilma (Ditty) and Pearline Hunt, Uncles Lambert (Myra) Day Rider, Steven Jr. (Deidre) Curly Rider, Wesley Hunt, Andrew (Micheline) Rabbit, Alvin (Melanie) Many Fingers, Grandparents Alex and Suzie Hunt. Many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
John 14:1-3”Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
