Cowan was born December 10, 1995 at the Cardston Municipal Hospital. Cowan attended the Aahsoapi Elementary School, Tatsikiisaapo’p Middle School, LCI and Red Crow Community College. Cowan was born and raised in the Levern Community and would start each morning with a pow wow song while sitting on grandpa John’s lap. Cowan was everyone’s baby, especially to his mom and brother Ross. Cowan was very shy, saying very little when he first met someone, and would always have a shy smile before he would clear his throat and reply. Sometimes Cowan would be so shy he would simply nod. But once you got to know Cowan, he could talk for hours discussing music, games, life and religion. He loved to listen to his favorite artist Eminem and write in his notebook, Cowan would write down his own lyrics and show his mom and big brother. Growing up in Levern, Cowan always hung out with his close cousins Kendra Day Rider and Titus Day Rider, they would always run around outside and play tag or just hang out. As time went on Cowan grew up and looked up to his brother Ross and his mother, he would watch Ross play sports and cheer him on. Cowan was a fan of his brother. Cowan, Ross, Marlene and his father Gordon would travel lots for sports and would go on fun trips to Calgary, Cowan always got what he wanted. Everything he owned had to be better than his brother Ross. By his early teenage years Cowan loved visiting grandma Bernadine because of the surprises she always had for them whether it was giant big hugs and kisses or money for the store. Cowan and Ross were spoiled brats from his late grandma Rita and John. Rita and John raised Cowan and his brother Ross and taught them a lot about life and travelled to the states and across Canada for Pow Wows. Each morning started with a smudge and Cowan would sit at the table while grandma Rita cooked his favorite meal. Rita would baby talk to Cowan even though he was a teenager and Cowan would smile big. As an adult, Cowan was extremely close to his mother and brother. Cowan was his mother’s little helper, whether it was carrying groceries, water, or helping his mother and Jarvis in the house Cowan will be sadly missed.
A Wake Service will be held at the Moses Lake Gym, Blood Reserve on Friday, March 16th from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at the Moses Lake Gym on Saturday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be sent at: www.legacyfuneralhome.ca
