ROBERT EARLE “BOB” DUDLEY, beloved husband of the late Bessie (Orr) Dudley, passed away in Cardston, AB on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at the age of 91. He was born on June 18, 1927 to Elizabeth (Rutter) Dudley and Stephen Markham Dudley in High River, AB. He attended Old’s college from 1945-1947 where he obtained a Diploma in Practical Agriculture and was valedictorian of his graduating class. From 1948 – 1950 he served a voluntary mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern California region of the United States of America. He married Bessie Orr of Orton, AB in 1951 and they lived in Glenwood, Hill Spring, and Cardston, AB with their children before moving to Calgary. In 1967 he graduated from the University of Calgary with his Bachelors of Education and taught at Crescent Heights High School, Western Canada High School, Henry Wisewood High School and James Fowler High School. He retired in Calgary as a social studies teacher and avid basketball and badminton coach in 1993. Bob leaves behind his 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren as well as other family, friends and students who will miss his sense of humour and play, his penchant for story-telling and even his stern façade that covered a big teddy bear centre.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 5927 Tipton Rd NW, Calgary, AB on
Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary. Remembrances in his honour may be sent to the chapel the morning of the service.
