Danny Jr. Eagle Child
Danny was born April 14th 1967, was called home to be with our creator on June 22nd 2020 at the age of 53. He leaves to mourn his children, Lanissa, Colton, Lacinda, Danni, Lacandra, Lia-Lan, Fawn, Feather, Vernon, Elijah Crying Head, and grandchildren Dalaysia, Shayda, Violet, Autum, Saige, Morningstar and Legacy. He is survived by his sisters Tina, Fanny and Lynn Eagle Child and his brothers Johnathan Eagle Child and Sheldon First Rider. His paternal aunt and uncle Sylvia Hoven and Martin Eagle Child. His maternal aunts Theresa Royal, Sally Black, Eileen Black, Sheila Black and uncles Sydney and Stanley black. Danny has many first cousins to numerous to mention from both blood reserve and Siksika Nation. His extended family excludes the Paces, Many Fingers, the Bloods, Bruised Heads, Blacks, Bull Shields, Cross Childs, Healys, Devereaux, Big Eyes, White Elks, Red Guns, Little Lights, Royals, Iron Shirts, Breakers, Back Fats, Smiths, Wells, Davis', Three Persons. We apologize if the family has missed any families. Danny was predeceased by his son Nolan, parents Dan sr. and Elsie, brothers Darcy and Joey, nephews, Todd, Kyle and great niece Chanelle. His paternal grandparents Fanny and Tom Eagle Child, and paternal aunts and uncles, Pat, Jim, Josephine, Margaret, Phillis, Francis, Thomas, Albert. Maternal grandparents, John and Maude Black. Maternal aunt Pasty and uncle Nelson. As a child, Danny and his cousin Sandra who he took as a sister were raised by our grandmother Fanny a devoted catholic, they would walk to church every Sunday. Danny then went on to live with George and Emma First Rider who were full gospel Christians were Danny remembers being baptized. Being raised by elders Danny learned how to speak fluent Blackfoot and learned how to be a hard worker and a humble man. Danny eventually left the reserve for the city life in Calgary Alberta. He started school at the Plains Indian Cultural Survival School (PIICS) where he developed his artistic strengths and proceeded with his native crafts, he signed his art work as DZY DAN. Danny had many jobs and was a jack of all trades such as a rod buster, breaking horses, gas jockey, fencing, and many more including displaying his art work and crafts in the Glenbow Museum store. Danny was passionate about his music which included old school rock, to the heaviest of metal music, his star moment was when he traveled to Toronto to see and meet his favorite band Pantera. He loved his electric guitar so much he would call it his wife and sleep with it nightly. Danny was very compassionate with the homeless in Lethbridge, Fort McLeod, Standoff, Cardston and Calgary, he wore his heart on his sleeve and would give anyone his last dollar if he had one. Danny loved all his nephews, nieces and his siblings grandchildren as his own. Danny developed a special relationship with his children’s mother, Laverna and her family, Verna Raw Eater, Orlando Calling Last and the late Art and Violet Calling Last and Vernon Raw Eater.
A Tribute to our Dad Danny,
Our dad Danny also known as Dzy Dan. We all know him for his famous quotes and sayings, such as, .”Hells Bells or Golly Good Molly". Everyone he loved and knows, knew him for his humor, his weirdness and comical ways. He was passionate about his music, family and friends. A hard working man, well known for his art work. Danny left everyone he knew a memory of him in his own way. Our dad never excluded anyone in his heart, he loved everyone the same. We have many stories to tell about our dad, such as crazy fights and his crazy ways. He was a wise man, very protective of what he loved. Our dad Danny is very loved and loved everyone. His intentions were good, he ment well.
So he journeys on but forever will be loved and missed. His legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren.

A Wake Service will be held at Lanissa Raw Eater’s residence, Siksika, AB on Thursday, July 2nd at 1:00 pm continuing all night. The Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, July 3rd at 2:00 pm with a viewing from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Interment in the Eagle Child Cemetery.
