It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our cousin, niece, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister and friend,
Delphine Eagle Speaker. Delphine was born on May 3, 1965 in Cardston, Alberta, She passed away on February 2, 2022 in Lethbridge, Alberta. Delphine is survived by her son, Lyndon, and her grandchidren, Mylan, Taaliyah, Russell - sister - Hermandine (Kim) and her children - nephews - Troy, J.C., Harlin and Cody and niece - Shayla (Marvin) and God daughter - Brooklyn. Delphine was raised on the Blood Reserve in lower Standoff with her mom, sisters, aunties and grandmother and numerous cousins. Delphine was a quiet and gentle person, always willing to help out her family members whether it was to clean or to babysit, she was always there to help out. She was also a big time supporter to her family and would always be the first person to stand and defend her family. She was a soft spoken and humble person, never dressing too flashy but did like her black hats, leather jackets and vests, bandanas, chains and wristbands. She was a simple person who liked to clean up, visit, drink tea, smoke and hang out with her family and friends. Delphine never ventured far from the reserve but did get to travel to Gathering of Nations Powwow in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Las Vegas, Nevada in 2012. She is also survived by her Aunties - Levena Devine, Ramona (Ervin) First Rider and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her mom - Elizabeth, her sisters - Brenda, Shirley, Sherri, nephews - Shawn, Waylon, grandniece - Maggie, her grandparents - Tom and Maggie Eagle Speaker, Aunties - Peggy, Linda, Wanda, Sharon, Vina, - Uncle Thomas and numerous cousins and relatives. The family would like to thank the community members with their kind words, to Streets Alive and Lethbridge Shelter Addiction workers and counsellors, and all her friends in Lethbridge - Sage Clan - Lethbridge.
The Wake Service will be held on Wednesday, February 9 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Streets Alive, Lethbridge and continuing at White Calf Hall, Stand Off from 8:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, February 10 at 11:00 am. (Due to COVID restrictions the service will be limited to 50 people). Interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
