It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mom, sister, auntie, and grandmother, WANDA GABRIELLE EAGLE SPEAKER, born October 7, 1959 at the Blood Indian Hospital on the Blood Reserve and peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on July 25, 2021 at the Cardston Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Cardston, AB. Wanda is survived by her son Catlin Trey and two granddaughters Dakota Mackenzie Jewel and Pressly. Wanda was raised in lower Stand Off by her parents Tom and Maggie Eagle Speaker along with her sisters and brother. In her younger years she could be seen hanging out at her mom’s house with her sisters and cousins. As she grew up into a young woman she became a mother to Lance Develon and raised him with help of her sisters. Then a few years later became a mother again to Elysia Lynda Lee, Tracy Chantelle and Catlin Trey. Wanda was an avid home maker taking very special pride in her household. She was a very clean and spotless woman and her homestead was always so welcoming and cozy. Wanda was that auntie that went above and beyond for her nieces and nephews, taking pride in their accomplishments she was a big support unit in her immediate family by lending a helping hand in fundraising: cooking, doing taco sales, and raffles. Wanda was a home body who loved to do crossword puzzles, read the National Enquirer, watch Jerry Springer, Oprah and soap operas, dye her hair and do her own nails and eye brows; she also loved to cook and spend time with her kids and family. Wanda became an avid and dedicated Flames fan in her later years and would often be heard saying that Jerome Iginla “Iggy” was her “Man”! In her remaining years Wanda resided at Lee Crest and then in the Long Term Care Unit in the Cardston Hospital. The staff at both facilities remember Wanda as a fierce outspoken kind hearted and humourous patient that made them laugh. Staff members conveyed that they loved Wanda and will greatly miss her.
