It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Rhonda Eagle Tail Feathers in Vancouver, B.C. at the Vancouver General Hospital on January 14, 2024 at the age of 63 years. Rhonda was born on December 29, 1960 to Sam Day Chief and the late Lily Eagle Tail Feathers (Standing Alone). She will be sadly missed by her spouse Fabien; children, Ashley, Chaliane, Lanny, Nolan, Emerald, Catalina; and her grandchildren. Rhonda is also survived by her sisters Misty, Barbara (Shawn), Belinda (Rod), Benita (Ed), Dale (Girlie), Frances, and the late Shamy; brothers, Parrish, Pernell (Mariada), Alfred (Bunny), Ronnie (Wendi); aunts, Bella, Agnes, Jennifer (Albert), Emily (Mugs), Bessie, Sherri; uncles Mike (Crystal), Jerry (Theresa), Rex; Leonard (Anna), Joe; her adopted Mothers Blanche, Rhea, the late Nora, the late Odile Day Chief; her adopted family Stabs Down and Arnold Mountain Horse and his siblings; all her other relatives and extended family.
Rhonda was raised by Alec and Agnes Little Shields who resided in Moccasin Flats in Cardston, AB where she grew up with Rita Day Chief and the late Angela Singer – they were really pumper kiipiitaapaakaa. Rhonda attended her schooling in Cardston and moved to Lethbridge. She attended Life Skills and did her work experience at Edens Funeral Home in Fort Macleod. She loved riding horseback, hiking, and the beautiful scenery of the area she moved to. She moved to Vancouver to be closer to the mountains and the forests. Rhonda was into spiritual culture and she would travel from Vancouver to meet with Arnold Mountain Horse. At a young age she attended the Full Gospel church with her mother Agnes and her sisters Rita and Angela.
Rhonda was predeceased by her mother Lily Eagle Tail Feathers (Standing Alone); her paternal grandparents Ronald and Jane Day Chief; her maternal grandparents Frand and Helen Eagle Tail Feathers. She is also predeceased by many aunties, uncles and cousins. Rhonda had a large extended family on both sides of the Day Chief and Eagle Tail Feathers. The family apologizes for any names that may have been missed.
A Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston from 4:00 - 5:00 pm on Monday. The Wake Service will be held at Old Agency Hall, Blood Reserve on Monday, February 5 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Old Agency Hall on Tuesday, February 6 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the One Spot Cemetery, Old Agency, Blood Reserve.
