Clifford Fair (Brown Chief Calf) passed away Tuesday April 26, 2022 at the age of 55 years at the Chinook Regional Hospital surround by family. Clifford had been battling a lengthy illness and was residing at the Standoff Continuing Care Centre for the past few months.
Clifford was born on October 25, 1966 to Frank Fair Brown Chief Calf and Edwardine Fair and the third born to a family of six. Clifford was born in Cardston Alberta. Clifford is survived by his sister Betty (Kelvin) Spear Chief, brother Ike Joseph Chief Calf and his son’s Jory and Elijah Mistaken Chief and Jesse Fair, also he had five grandchildren. Clifford is also survived by numerous Aunts and Uncles of the Cotton and Chief Calf families. Clifford is predeceased by his brothers Ritchie Chief Calf, Milton Fair and Frank Jr and parents Frank and Edwardine and his spouse Ernestine Healy and son Clayton Fair. His maternal grandparents Frank and Annie Cotton, his paternal grandparents Fair and Annie Brown Chief Calf.
Clifford was born in Cardston Alberta and grew up on the Blood Reserve at the Cotton Family Ranch. He grew up with several cousins and relatives to play hockey, baseball and football. Enjoys taking hikes in the Belly Buttes. Clifford attended Fort Macleod, Cardston and Standoff schools throughout his growing years. Clifford graduated from Cardston High School. Clifford enrolled at the Lethbridge College to complete a short course in Meat Cutting studies and once he graduated was hired on as a meat cutter at the Standoff Supermarket for a number of years. Clifford went on to attended the University of Lethbridge to take an under-graduate Arts and Science studies. Clifford also attended the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College to continue his Arts and Science studies.
Clifford was known for his infectious smile and laughter and always open to making new friends, he was always willing to help out and showed a kind and compassionate demeanor. Clifford was an enthused and passionate guitar player in which he learned to play the guitar on his own and always took the opportunity to play at family church gatherings, you could always see him carrying his guitar around and participating at various music gatherings. Clifford was also artistic and enjoyed drawing and creating native crafts. At the time of his passing, he was looking forward to instructing a class on dream catcher designing and the Continuing Care Centre. Clifford will forever be remembered as a Champion Fancy Dancer and took the time and effort to create his own dancing regalia and head dress. Clifford enjoyed following the Pow wow trail in order to enter in dancing competitions and won his fair share of titles.

A family service will be held from 4:00 - 5:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston followed by the Wake Service on Monday, May 2, 2022 at White Calf Hall, Stand Off from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at White Calf Hall, Stand Off on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
