It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Derrick Good Dagger announce his unexpected passing on May 19, 2023 on the Blood Reserve at the age of 25 years old. Derrick was born in Lethbridge, Alberta to Gail Good Dagger. Derrick was raised by his grandparents Dale Rabbit and the late Margaret Rabbit. He is survived by his wife Darcia Little Bear and his pride and Joy baby Kovoacs Drew Good Dagger, siblings Calida Good Dagger and Tyre Rabbit; aunties, Felicia (Scotty); uncles Leon, Terrence Good Dagger, great aunties Rosie Reyes, Theresa Vielle, Joan (Clayton) Many Guns, Beverly (Douglas) Rabbit, Joyce (Gary) Bird, John Rabbit, Nick Rabbit. Adopted parents Late Raymond Eagle Bear and Kyla Crow.
Derrick was predeceased by his grandmother Margaret Rabbit, sister Mary Big Snake; great grandparents Bernard (Minnie) Rabbit, grandfather Jimmy Red Crow Sr., great uncles, Wilbur, Radford, Walter, Gifford Good Dagger, Kelvin (Violet) Black Horse, and Robert (Yolanda) Eagle Tail Feathers. Derrick graduated from Kainai High School. Derrick was proud to be father to his son baby Kovoacs. During Derrick’s lifetime he enjoyed being with his family and hanging out with his friends. And most of all being a father to baby Kovoacs. Derrick enjoyed the sport of hockey, he played hockey for Kainai Minor Hockey, South West Rockies, Lethbridge Hurricanes midget AA and the Kainai Chiefs senior AA. His close friends gave him the nickname Boogknight. Derrick also took passion in music writing lyrics and making music, at times would go live on social media. Derrick gained so many friends which he took as his brothers and sisters.

A Wake Service will be held at Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve, AB on Monday, May 29 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Gladstone Hall on Tuesday, May 30 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Catherine’s cemetery.
