Deon Evans Gros Ventre Boy - Shot Both Sides was called home to be with the lord on November 15th, 2021, at the Age of 36 years old.
He survived by his children Adriena, Latrell Cade Leo, Jordana Maiori, Trace Houston, and Kaira Vaile; his brothers Charles S.B.S, Randall (Juanita) Morning Owl, Timothy (Sharisse) Morning Owl; his sisters Angie (Sam) S.B.S. “the smurfs”, Tanya S.B.S.; his uncles Wesley (Noreen) Gros Venture Boy, Dini (April) Gros Venture Boy; his aunts Carolyn Gros Venture Boy and Colleen S.B.S; numerous great aunts and uncles as well as family and friends from the Shot Both Sides, Gros Venture Boy, Chief Moon, Bare Shin Bone, First Charger, Scout and Many Grey Horses.
When Deon made his journey to heaven, he was reunited with his brother Kevin S.B.S, his father Randy Gros Venture Boy and his mother Doris S.B.S, his paternal grandparents Beatie Gros Venture Boy and Ruby Gros Venture Boy, his maternal grandparents Clovis Shot Both Sides and Delphine Shot Both Sides, his great grandparents on his mother's side Jim Sr Shot Both Sides and Annie Shot Both Sides.
Deon grew up on the blood reserve close to Lavern Alberta, he attended Lavern elementary school and Kainai High School. Deon enjoyed life and everyone around him, he had a certain energy that nobody else had. He was always laughing and joking with his brothers keeping the laughs going, and he always had a new nickname it seemed, one year it was “Odeon” because he said every time, he ran into his friends they said, “oh Deon!” He was welcome in everyone's homes, no questions asked, he was good company and considered an old soul, he was fluent in Blackfoot and would often share stories he learned from his grandfather Beatie about the traditional ways of life as his grandfather was considered an elder who was often called upon for prayers and traditional medicines for healing and he loved to visit; he was always ready to help in any situation. Deon came to visit regularly at the Scout residence and was part of the family, Gary, and Kym never grew tired of his presence and often insisted he stay he was family. In his younger years he enjoyed skateboarding with the boys and freestyle rapping with his bros Dexter, Tim, and Ian. they made a record at his late uncle Gabriels Studio and would often make mixtapes in their basements as well.
Deon shared many good times with his good friend/brother Ross they were often inseparable, and joined at the hip, if Deon was there, you can expect ross to be within hugging distance.
Many war stories they could share and battle scars to prove but Deon did not need to prove anything he was living proof. They don’t make em like they used to
Deon was an incredibly talented artist in many ways, he enjoyed the beauty in every art form he pursued and was paid well for his work.
Deon loved his children with all his heart and soul, they were his pride and joy. Trace, Adriena, Latrell, Jordana, and Kira meant the world to Deon, and he talked about them and missed them every single day they were away from him.
A Wake Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 from 7:00 to 11:00 pm with a Funeral Service to follow at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Thursday November 25th at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Blood Band Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
