It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Sister, Daughter, Auntie, Niece, Cousin, and Granddaughter, Lacey Gail Heavy Runner, Iiniskimmakii (Buffalo Stone Women). Lacey was called home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2021 in Cardston, AB.
Lacey was born on January 20, 1986 to Violet (Kelvin) Black Horse and Roy (Mariam) Tallow Jr. in Cardston AB.
Lacey was 4 years old when Violet met Kelvin and resided in the community of Moses Lake, on the Blood Reserve. Lacey was excited and happy when they stayed together because she really wanted to be his daughter. Kelvin and his late mother Freda had welcomed Carlyn and Lacey with open arms and immediately Lacey had bonded with Freda. She loved to travel with her parents all over Alberta, British Columbia, and the United States.
When Violet was pregnant with Cassidy, Lacey had recommended to her parents to get a two seated stroller so that she can ride with her new baby brother. Her grandma Freda had moved Lacey to the North end of the reserve where she had lived with Freda, Reggie, and Gladys and cousin Foran Spear Chief. She was a daughter that was raised up by the grandparents, who had raised her to be the kind-hearted women she had become in life. She had also loved spending time out in the Fish Creek area at a young age with her Grandma Pauline where she would go berry picking, taking long walks, and enjoyed helping to feed the horses that his grandpa Roy Sr was raising. She also enjoyed collecting 75-million-year-old Fossils along the ST. Mary River with her Dad Kelvin located at the Black Horse Coal Mines North East of the Blood Indian Reserve.
Lacey was a kind-hearted woman who had a big heart for everyone that she had met. She always helps everyone out in the best way she could. She had a heart of gold that made her stand out from others. Lacey personality was a friendly, kind, gentle, loving women which drew people to her. Because of this she had many friends from all over.
Lacey had always dreamed to become a fashion designer and soon started designing her own clothes, in which her friends didn’t believe her that she had made her clothes. Her dreams were put on hold when she became a mother to her three beautiful children, and her stepson whom she had raised as her own. Her children became her everything, she had always wanted the best for them. Always going above and beyond for her children. Lacey loved to travel to various places, whether it be camping, fishing, fastball trips and family vacations. Lacey loved to make every occasion special and memorable for them. Whether it be from going to Sesame Street to WWE events to Selena Gomez concerts, to whale watching on the West Coast she was always looking forward to these trips and events, just to see the smiles on her kids faces were always the highlight of these trips.
