RONALD DEAN HIGGINS
1962 ~ 2016
It is with great sorrow that the family of Ron Higgins announces his passing on March 14th, 2016 in his home in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 54.
He is survived by his three children Patrick, Eli and Sarah; as well as his five grandchildren Brianna, Lukus, Alisha, Kira and Mayzlee. He also leaves behind his parents Kay Stack of Cardston and Dan Higgins of Cutbank, MT; his brothers Rock (Eunice), Randy (Sue); sisters Cindy (David) Taft and Lyndee Stevenson. His loss will also be felt by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished dogs; Sandy, Gus, Izzy and Red.
Ron is predeceased by his beloved step-father Albert Stack and grandparents Woodrow (Marguerite) Brown and George (May) Higgins.
Ron was born on January 19th, 1962 in Browning, MT. He began his education in Missoula, MT and finished it in Lethbridge, AB after deciding to pursue a career in the oil field as an equipment operator. His passion for mechanics allowed him to work in a field that he enjoyed for 34 years as well as giving him the ability to travel throughout Alberta, Montana, Saskatchewan and the Yukon. His love of motorcycles and all things mechanical also allowed him to contribute to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin. While living in Wetaskiwin he met his wife Darlene and embraced her son as his own. They had two children together and separated after 28 years. After an injury caused him to retire in 2012, he could often be found with a wrench in hand doing what he loved, working on one of his many vehicles or motorcycles. Ron’s devotion to his family was apparent, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home, on Sunday, March 20th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the church from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
The Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Center (338 -5th Ave. East) on Monday, March 21st, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
