She is predeceased by her father and mother Scott and Pearl Gallup and her special little boy Jason David Holladay.
Carol was born in Brooks Alberta Nov 1, 1953. Her growing up years were spent in Rosemary, Cardston and Pincher Creek. She received her teaching degree by attending 2 years at Ricks College and then graduating from BYU - Provo. During this time she not only accomplished her degree but she was very athletic and received the Outstanding Athletes of America award and three presidential awards, one each in Volleyball, Basketball and Track signed by President Nixon. Carol held Idaho records for many years in different Track and Field running events.
On August 27th, 1977 in the Cardston Alberta Temple Carol married Jim Holladay for time and all eternity. They have had 44 years of wonderful life together and welcomed 4 awesome sons and one amazingly beautiful daughter. Family was so important to Carol that she dedicated her time, energy and testimony to raising and keeping her family together all these years. During their marriage Carol and Jim started out in Claresholm and moved to Lethbridge soon after. They spent some time in Okotoks then settled in Magrath in 1995 where they are still today.
Carol was a very spiritual woman and served in various church callings. She was always willing to step up and do whatever was asked plus so many more things not asked. She quietly went around and uplifted and served without recognition. Her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ was paramount in her life decisions. Carol had a goal to visit as many different temples as she could because she valued her relationship with Jesus Christ so much. Carol and Jim were able to visit and perform ordinances for their ancestors in 72 different temples around the world. She loved sharing these special trips and experiences with her family.
Carol loved to read, camp and fish and spending time with her siblings and parents. She loved the card game of Rook, and would spend hours playing whoever would sit with her, even those of us who did not understand the game. Carol's absolute joy during life was attending and supporting her children and grandchildren's events, activities and hobbies. She would drive 3 hours to watch a basketball game and then drive another 3 hours home all in the same day. Carol would spend hours telling stories about her younger years and her pioneer heritage. She valued learning her ancestry and spent time organizing, printing and sharing books of remembrances and stories from her forefathers. Many, many ancestors will thank her for the work she has done in helping them with their temple work.
Carol will be deeply missed, and knowing her testimony of and relationship with Jesus Christ she will be excited to be reuniting with her family that has passed already. We will miss her, but are excited for this next chapter for her and know we will see her again.
The Meet the Family will take place at the Garden Place Chapel, Magrath, AB on Thursday, August 12 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 pm. (Prior to the service the Interment will take place at 10:00 am for Family and Close Friends in the Magrath Cemetery).
