Candace Melorie Holy Singer, of the Blood Reserve, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday June 30, 2021 at the age of 37 years old.
Candace is survived by her daughter Sage Low Horn, her parents Lester & Alvine Low Horn, her siblings Kim Holy Singer, Sylvia Low Horn Jr, Katelyn (Cory) Wadsworth, Beverly (Wendel) Mills, Chanel Mills, Ryan Mills, & Tracy (Barclay) Big Sorrel Horse, Special Sister Blanche Half. As well as her loving nieces and nephews who were all loved equally. Her only surviving grandfather Dale Low Horn Sr. & Only survivng great uncle Bernard (Agnes) Shouting. Maternal aunts Christine Little Bear, Maryann Holy Singer & Ardith Wells. Her maternal uncles Thomas (Rosaline) Holy Singer & Alvin (Tracy) Wells. Her paternal aunts Cynthia (Ronnie) Scout, Cheryl (Herman) Scout, Ethel (Floyd) Plume & Malina (Dwayne) Across The Mountain. Paternal Uncles Patrick Black Plume (godfather), Allen (Janet) Black Plume, Rudy (Tammy) Low Horn & Dale Jr (Doris) Low Horn. Her god mother Carrie Black Plume.
Candace attended school on the Blood Reserve at Levern Elementary school and continued on to Kainai Middle School. She later went on to continue her education in Lethbridge. Candace grew up at Low Horn Coulee with all her cousins playing outside and in the fields till the wee hours in the morning. You can often catch them swimming in the creek in the summer time or sledding down the hill in the winter time.
She grew up to embrace the traditional way of life by supporting her sister and parents at the Piercing Sundance at Uncle Morris’. She continued her dedication when her parents' formed the Bullhorn Coulee Sundancers’. You would often see her pledging prayer offerings and smoking the pipe for prayers.
Candace was a free spirit who loved unconditionally, she lived life to the fullest with thriving on the simple things in life. When one would meet up with Candace she would gift them a rock asking for prayers, that was her way of keeping things simple.
After the loss of her husband Vernon, Candace lost the zest in her life to carry on. The loneliness, the hurt and pain was all too much for her. But never the less Candace continued her loving ways with a big smile and never forgets to say ‘I Love You’ before parting ways.
Candace was predeceased by her Maternal Grandparents Art Wells & Bertha Holy Singer. Her Paternal Grandmother Sylvia Low Horn. Maternal Aunts Geraldine Shouting, Bernadine Holy Singer, Delphine Holy Singer. Maternal Uncle Oliver Shouting. Brother Bobby Holy Singer. Cousins Sheldon Holy Singer, Sterling Shouting & Lane Wells. As well as her niece Kakaato’sakii.
The family service will be from 5:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday July 11, 2021 at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston followed by the Wake service at the Tanner Senior Centre, Cardston from 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm . The Funeral Service will take place on Monday, July 12 at 11:00 am at the Tanner Senior Centre. Interment to take place in Blood Band Cemetery.
