Ernest Hunt
Makaapinii
Mr. Ernest Byrde Bertie Hunt Makaapinii, answered the Lord’s call at the Cardston Municipal Hospital on Saturday June 8, 2019 at the age of 82 years.
He was born on the Blood Reserve to Joe Vincent Hunt Kaitaatohtaissii and Gladys Bottle Nahmaakii. Ernest attended school at St. Paul’s Indian Residential Scholl until in his sixth grade. He enjoyed fencing and farming with his dad. He was a labourer, handyman doing farming and fencing. Ernest also love to garden working with whom ever requested his expertise. He travelled with family and friends to pick fruit in B.C. Many friends commented that he was a quiet mysterious man, who kept to himself. Ernest attended church and was saved when he was forty years of age. He worked as a security guard for the BTA and at the Health Center. He always made new friends and help those who asked for guidance. This is when he would pull out his Bible and share the Word and Scripture. His greatest accomplishment was raising his grand-daughter from infancy, “Elisha”. Ernest was always seen on his morning walks to the BTA and Kainai Continuing Care Center catching up with his many friends and relatives. He has his favorite spot at the BTA building if you needed to find him. He came from a big family, taking in those who lived in townsite as his adopted family. Ernest was a kind, loving uncle who opened his door to all and helped in anyway he could even if it meant taking his shirt off his back.
