DOUGLAS WILLIAM HUTCHINSON passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2021 at the age of 91 years. He was healthy and active until the last month or so, when he had a short stay at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge due to kidney issues and stomach cancer.
Doug was predeceased by his first wife Iris Hutchinson, and a daughter-in-law Cindy (Norman). He is survived by a large and loving family. They include his second wife Dini and her family, as well as Doug and Iris’ children and grand-children: Tom (and Carol) Hutchinson of Calgary, plus Bill, Mike, Reese, Dan, and Chris; Cathy (and Kurt) Olsen of Aetna, plus Daniel, Tammi, Ryan, Kandi, Devon, Kimberly, Karianne, and Jared; Norman (and Jane) Hutchinson of Richmond, B.C., plus Marcy, Chuck, AJ, Leo, Sam, and Billy; Brenda (and Lawrence) Ryan of Bassano, plus Kristi, Michael, Lynda, and Erin; Patrick Hutchinson (and Val Trask) of Cambridge, Nova Scotia, plus Chelsea; and Maureen Simpson of Fort McMurray, plus Melissa, Savannah, Dallin, and Bryce. Doug also has many great-grand-children, at present 49 and counting!
Doug was born at Dogtown, just outside of Taber, Alberta on October 28, 1929. He married Iris Jones on March 5, 1954. They lived briefly at Lethbridge, then at Taber until 1965, then at Brooks. He retired from the post office in 1984 after 30 years, and moved to Cardston in 1986. Doug and Iris also served a mission at the Seoul, Korea Temple from 1991 to 1993. Iris passed away on 31 March 2000, and Doug married Dini Smith on 30 Apr 2005. Doug was very active in family history, especially the Italian records for his Mom’s family. He was very faithful in temple attendance and was a worker there for many years. His hobbies when younger included curling, for which he won many trophies, and coin collecting.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Temple Street Chapel, Cardston on Saturday, July 24 at 11:00 am. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 - 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Cardston Cemetery.
