Yolanda Marie Maa‘nii Little Shields – Schick, born December 13, 2023, beloved wife of Darrell Schick, passed away suddenly and peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday November 8, 2023.
Yolanda was born at the Indian Hospital on the Blood Reserve, to her parents George Little Shields and the late Joan Wells.
Yolanda spent her early years growing up in Moses Lake area, where she made many memories with her siblings and cousins. Some of her memories were spending time at summer camp at the timber limits, Twinky always said that was her safe place. She loved it up in the mountains. She always shared stories of times at Grandma Mollys house and the times when she would travel with her family to all sorts of places.
Twinkys biggest support throughout every stage in her life was her dad, George. He was always there for her when she needed him. She loved her dad so much.
Twinkys mother Joan was also there to support her, she was there for Twinky whenever she needed extra help with her babies. She never quite got over the loss of her mother. Twinky would always talk about how she couldn’t wait to see her mom again one day.
As Twinky got older she became a mother to four beautiful children. She dedicated her life to being the best one she could be. Twinky always did her best to make sure her kids were able to grow up and make good lives for themselves. If there was anything they needed she was always there to make it happen. It was with her support, love and encouragement they continue to strive in life. She was so proud of her four children. Twinky was a proud grandma to three boys, Trip, Nash and Rhys. She always teased her kids that she loved them, but she loved her grandbabies even more.
Later in her life she met and married Darrell Schick. Together they built a good life, Darrell always made sure she never had to worry about anything. Twinky was so grateful to have Darrell by her side throughout the years.
During the last year of Twinky’s life she spent it doing the things she loved most. Her husband Darrell bought her a camper and during the summer they took it out to Payne Lake where they spent their summer. One of the best times this year was when her son Brooke got married, she was so happy for her son and daughter in law Michelle. Twinky made a bucket list and one of her accomplishments was to hike Bears Hump, which she did back in August. The number one goal on her list was to hike Chief Mountain. Twinky loved to travel and the last two special trips she made were to Kalispell, MT with Shay and to Winnipeg, MB with her husband Darrell.
Twinky was a business owner and that lead her to attend many powwows, markets and trade shows. She would go to all these events and showcase her creations.
One thing that brought Twinky comfort during her difficult times throughout life was her connection to Jehovah God. With the support and encouragement of the brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall congregation, she flourished in her bible studies. One of her proudest times in her life was when she became an unbaptized publisher in the fall of 2015. Twinky always said you’ll see her again one day, mourn her but not to keep crying. She’s resting now.
