She cherished her girls and would do anything for them, each had a unique relationship with mom, though sometimes they did not see eye to eye they always knew she loved them dearly and would always be there for them. Her most treasured possessions were her grandchildren (names) whom she loved more then life itself, she was very proud of each and everyone of them, they held a special place in her heart. Alvine and Lester’s home was always open to the nieces and nephews, family, and friends, she had such love, respect, and compassion for all, Alvine was the epitome of Kimmiipiipitsinni (kindness) and touched many lives throughout her journey. With her husband by her side and her family following in her footsteps, Alvine began sundancing with Morris Crow in 1997 and dancing at Joe Eagle Tail Feathers Sundance as well. It was then Alvine, and Lester began to devote their life to Creator and started their journey with the Bullhorn Coulee Sundance in 2013. Their sundance family grew every year, seeing their loved ones, friends and family join them year after year was everything they prayed for. In 1991 Alvine and Lester attended their first pilgrimage which was facilitated by her brother the late Oliver (Ann) Shouting, it was then that Oliver took both under his wing, he saw something in both and knew they were the right people for the job. Little did Alvine and Lester know that during this time of teaching and transition Oliver had fallen ill. On one of their many visits with Oliver and Ann, Oliver than turn the “briefcase” over too them, he knew they were ready to carry on his legacy of the pilgrimage, thus began a new journey for both. Like everything Alvine accomplished in her life, she wore this title with pride, strength, and perseverance, it was both her and Lester’s dedication to the Pilgrimage that has impacted so many lives, for this we thank them so very much.
