Dale Lamont Lybbert (81) of Cardston, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21st 2023 with his sweetheart, Louise, and family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise Parker Lybbert, and his children; Audra Foggin (Claude Masse), Deedra (Matt) Norton, Aaron (Kristin) Lybbert, as well as eight grandchildren,
and five great-grandchildren.
On March 27th, 1941, in Cold Lake, Alberta, Dale was welcomed as the sixth of eight sons in the Lloyd & Luella (Anderson) Lybbert family. Dale grew into a charismatic young man and because of his genuine and pleasing personality, quickly made friends with those in whom he associated with. Like his family, he mastered the lifestyle of a cowboy and
loved training horses and ranching.
Dale attended the Western College of Auctioneering in Billings, MT and completed his course with honors in 1960. He excelled as an auctioneer and quickly became well-known throughout Western Canada as one of the best in his profession. Because both the Parker and Lybbert families shared the same interest of attending rodeos, Dale met the love of his life, Louise, at the Lea Park Rodeo and they were subsequently married on June 6th, 1964.
While Dale worked for Weiller and Williams Livestock Firm in Lloydminster, Louise worked as head nurse on the Lloydminster hospital maternity ward. They also began their own ranching business in Marwayne, Alberta and they took great pride in raising quality Registered Quarter Horses and purebred Simmental Cattle. They also were involved in embryo transplanting with their Simmental and Main-Anjou cattle.
Family is always a priority for Dale and Louise, and they were delighted as each of their children, Audra, Deedra, and Aaron joined their family. To provide the best for their children, in 1985, Dale and Louise moved to Southern Alberta where they continued to ranch in the Cardston Community. Several years later, in 1997, Dale and Louise moved to Cochrane, Alberta where he was a respected cattle manager at one of the Copithorne Ranches. After retirement, and with a desire to be closer to family, Dale and Louise returned to Cardston in 2006.
Throughout his life, Dale was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings. His testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is an amazing example to those that knew him, including his wife, children, and grandchildren. He lived his life so that it was a positive influence and example of the importance of hard work, love, and service to others. While he will be missed greatly, Dale will never be forgotten and always cherished.
The family of Dale and Louise Lybbert would like to thank the loving service of Dr. Justin Low, as well as those who were attentive to Dale’s needs while he was a resident at the Hospital Long Term Care Auxiliary.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Centre, (338 5th Ave. E., Cardston, AB, on Tuesday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 - 10:45 am prior to the service.
