MORGAN EDWIN “TED” MACKENZIE passed away peacefully at Cardston, AB. December 29, 2021, at the age of 89 years surrounded by family.
Ted was born in Cardston, AB. the oldest child of Roderick Mackenzie and Mabel Mary Strate Mackenzie and was predeceased by his parents, his brother Rodney, and a great granddaughter Hope Lister.
Ted is survived by his wife Reva Pilling Mackenzie of 67 years, his children, Carol [Ray] Lister; Ed [Diana ]; Randy [ Karen]; 10 grandchildren & their spouses; 26 great grandchildren. Also siblings, Leota [Butch] Sloan; Mark [Edna]; Don [Linda]; Kenny [Rebecca].
Ted was raised in Mountain View and Caldwell, AB. where he enjoyed ranching all his life. Ted, along with his brothers & father, formed Mackenzie Brothers Red Angus and brought the first Red Angus cattle herd into Canada. He loved his family & sports, especially golf & basketball, and in later years, Bocci Ball where his team won many gold medals in Alberta Seniors Games. He also enjoyed fishing, especially his trips to Belly River Lakes, with his family & friends. Nearly 6 years ago, he & Reva moved to Lee Crest Assisted living in Cardston. Ted was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings. He & Reva enjoyed their service in the Cardston Temple for many years.
The Funeral service will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mountain View, Alberta. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
