IZETTA GERTRUDE MARTIN-PROFFITT, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the age of 93 years.
She was predeceased by her husband William John Martin Jr of Hill Spring. She is survived by her children, Lynn (Jim) Folsom, Sterling Martin (Diana), Gary Martin (Marie), and Jeff Martin (Shirley). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 46 great Grandchildren with 2 deceased great grandchildren.
Izetta originally haled from Virginia. She was a true southern belle. She was a fun-loving, kind, sweet, dignified, salt of the earth mother. She never spoke an unkind word or yelled at anyone, but may or may not have chased her children with a broom. She loved to play games of all types with anyone, especially with her grandchildren. She loved to swim (but bobbed rather than swam). She loved to travel and loved her trips to Virginia to visit her family there. Gardening was very important to her. She played guitar, loved to sing, and especially to yodel.
She and her husband served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Blood Branch—which they both loved. She also served in many capacities in the Church and many say they remember her to be their favorite Primary teacher. She had a strong Testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and never hesitated to share it.
Friends may meet the family at Legacy Funeral Home, (107 6th St W, Cardston, AB T0K 0K0) on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 10:00 - 10:45 am with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am. Those who wish to attend are welcome-Social Distancing. Interment to follow at the Hill Spring Cemetery.
