EDNA MARGARET MCDONALD, a long time resident of Cardston, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Saturday April 15, 2017 at the Cardston Hospital. She was born on April 28, 1930 in Vancouver, B.C., and was raised in the Central Alberta region. Edna graduated high school in Red Deer and went on to receive a Nursing Diploma from Lamont Nursing College in 1951. For the next 37 years she worked in various hospitals across Canada as an operating room nurse. Edna enjoyed working in the operating room and helping out the sick. She eventually retired from the medical field in Cardston in 1988.
She loved her family dearly, had a soft spot for dogs and was a very talented crafter. Edna was the second youngest of five children and the last living member of her family. She is survived by her son George (Stacy Jasperson), her daughter Charisse, her granddaughter, Ashley (Kyle Hellwig and great grandson Treytan) and her grandson, Shane.
Edna truly desired to remain in her own home as long as possible. She was able to do so with the assistance and care she received from Dana Payne, Sheron Doig, Jolene Strang, Kail Brown, Homecare and neighbors over the past decade. The family offers their heartfelt thanks for the loving service they provided for Edna.
Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 19th from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at 11:45 a.m. at the Cardston Cemetery.
