MERLIN MEDICINE CRANE, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge on August 18, 2021 at the age of 56 years.
Merlin was born January 23, 1965 to the late Herman Medicine Crane and Louise Medicine Crane (Nee: White Man Left). Merlin was born at the Blood Indian Hospital. He was raised in Spring Coulee and later moved to Stand Off. He attended school at Stand Off Elementary than on to St. Mary’s High School. Merlin played hockey with the Kainai Minor Hockey and Jr Hockey League where he played with Kainai Golden Chiefs. Merlin was a sports fan of his family favorite hockey team being the Montreal Canadiens. In the summer months Merlin played baseball, he played with the Tomahawks, Raiders, Silver Bullets and the Knockouts. Every summer he would play with Frank and Alvin, baseball to fastball. Merlin loved being around his best friend/cousin Curtis White Man Left and also his dog Marty whom he raised since a puppy.
Merlin is survived by his brothers: Darcy (Amy), Cory (Erica) Medicine Crane; nieces: Tara, Kimberly, Jodi, Loretta and Chayla Medicine Crane; nephews: Alvin Jr. (Laney), Thomas, James. Merlin had numerous great nieces and nephews. Uncles: Joseph (Joan) White Man Left, Max Medicine Crane, James (Ruby) medicine Crane, Rodney Medicine Crane, Clinton (Josie) Medicine Crane; aunts: Florine White Man Left, Victoria Calf Robe, Jeanette (Brian) Stevens, Gabrielle (Jasper) Buckskin, Doreen Williams-Freeman, Dorothy Medicine Crane, Lorna (Kirk) White Quills and Judy Medicine Crane.
Predeceased by his parents: Herman & Louise Medicine Crane; sister Joyce Medicine Crane; brothers: Frank and Alvin Medicine Crane; paternal grand parents: Tom (Catherine) Medicine Crane, Alice Hairy Bull; maternal grand parents Joseph & Mary White Man Left; aunties: Rosie, Kristine and Molly White Man Left, Mary Standing Alone; uncles: Clarence, Ralph, Pete, Bernard, Alphonse and Adrian White Man Left, Thomas and Sonny Medicine Crane, Leo and Paul Hairy Bull; great niece Tavaya Medicine Crane. A Wake service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston, Alberta on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Friday, August 27 from 9:00 -11:00 am with the Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Blood Reserve, Alberta.
