GLENDA DARLENE “DIXIE” MURRAY passed away peacefully on September 21, 2017 in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 69.
Dixie was born November 29, 1947 to Howard and Inez Wilson- the 12th of 13 children. It was there that the principles of hard work, dedication, and devotion and love for family were taught.
After attending hairdressing school, she fell in love with a handsome cowboy, Perry Beaton, and they set off in search of adventure in rodeo, ranching and travel throughout Canada and the United States. Niki, Coy, Bernie, Cali and Neeley joined them in the years that followed. Dixie had a passion for politics and for lively discussion. She volunteered on many boards and organizations, including many positions in the LDS church. Eight years after Perry’s passing, Dixie married a tall rancher, Charlie Murray, from Mountain View, Alberta. With spunk and determination, she became Grams to 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, making a family of 71. She could be found wrestling her grandchildren in the middle of the living room floor or making their favorite meals.
Dixie loved life and her family. She lived every day to the fullest. Her home was open to all and she had a unique way in making everyone feel like they were family. She had a particular soft spot for young people and saw the best in them. Dixie had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home, on Wednesday, September 27th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the church from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service.
