A fond memory of Araya Sunshine, from her Father, Nathan; she was given her strong Blackfoot name of “Thunder Pipe Woman”, as she was surrounded by her family, she would bounce on her bottom and go to the people with their hands out and let them give her a big hug. Then, there was just the one lady in the crowd who she didn’t want to go to, but the lady understood and they all laughed about it as Araya-sunshine was so special and only knew of love. Her great Auntie Hope was fortunate to meet her with her foster dad Norman, and once Norman told Sunshine that she was aunty, Sunshine screamed with excitement and had brought joy to her Auntie’s heart. As well when she was born, Grandpa Reggie had trouble saying her name and said “I have to go see my granddaughter.” In life she was physically limited and she only knew of love for one another, what a coincidence she was born on Valentine’s Day. She had such a strong Blackfoot name, “Thunder Pipe Woman”. She was her Father’s strength, and reason for his sobriety for seven years. “She was his Sunshine”. She will greatly be missed to all who were fortunate to know her.
Baby Araya Sunshine was predeceased by her grandparents: Kenneth Kicking Women, Donna & Homer Rabbit-Wolf Child; Great grandparents, Joyce and Percy Old Shoes, Reggie Black Plume and Bella Wolf Child; great-great grandmother Suzette Eagle Ribs; Frank Black Plume “Soyisttsiiksiina” and Lizzie Standing Alone “Sipiainihkiaakii” (Joe Across the Mountain); Lucy Spotted Bull and Sam (Elizabeth) Wolf Child; Aunties Joycealine and Amanda Old Shoes; Her cousins: Myron Wolf Child, Daynin Healy, Darcy Black Plume, Tama White Man, Richard Jr. Black Plume, Kesley & Lesley Ann Wolf Child and Leona White Man.
