BEN ROYCE OLSEN, long time resident of Mountain View, Alberta passed away peacefully at home near Waterton Lakes National Park on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the age of 84 years – just 12 days before his birthday.
Ben married Mary Georgean Caldwell of Hill Spring on July 22, 1954 and chose to raise their family along the Crooked Creek near Waterton Park. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family and took great pleasure in supporting them and watching them grow. With his family, they developed a campground along the Waterton River where they built the Playhouse and hosted guests, to barbecued roast beef and entertained them with a musical variety show.
Ben was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life, serving as a missionary to South Africa, in many leadership positions and as a worker in the Cardston Alberta Temple. He was a man of faith and integrity and will be fondly remembered for his friendliness, kindness and generosity.
His legacy is his family and is survived by his eternal sweetheart, Georgean Olsen, his children and their families: Nolen (Vicky) Olsen of Mountain View, Terrie (Drew) Bullock of Mountain View, Mary (Robert) Woolf of Coaldale, Max (Keiko) Olsen of Mountain View and Paula (Locke) Marshall of Mountain View, as well as 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Ben was predeceased by his parents Reed T. Olsen and Nora Redford Olsen, an older brother Verlin Olsen and a daughter, Lynna Georgean.
Friends can meet the family from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Legacy Funeral Home in Cardston or from 9:45 am to 10:45 am prior to the Service.
