It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mom, LORNA (LEAVITT) OLSON PAYNE, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, on Friday May 20, 2022, at St. Michaels Health Centre, Lethbridge, Alberta surrounded by family.
Mom is survived by her 5 children. Brent (Susan), Calgary, Cameron (Val), Okotoks, Brenda (Kendall) Wagner, Lethbridge, Phillip, Glenwood and Lasca (Erick) Simmons, Kennewick, Washington, her husband Ray Payne, Cardston, 14 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She will be forever missed and loved by all.
Our mother had a very busy life and was a hard worker, raising her family with our father, Oliver Olson (deceased 1983). Mom became well known for her quilt making and we all received our “wedding quilts” on our special day. She also made sure even her grandchildren and great grandchildren had one of her special quilts that will always be treasured.
While living in Glenwood, Mom always had a meticulous garden, especially her roses that she knew all of the names of. We have great memories of trips to Waterton enjoying her cooking with recipes that will be passed on for generations.
Mom was a dedicated and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in numerous capacities including a mission to the Church Family History Centre in Salt Lake City.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at St. Michaels Heath Centre LTC - J House for their tender loving care given to Mom over the past 6 months. The compassion and professionalism shown during Moms final days will forever be remembered.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,Glenwood, Alberta, on Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
