RABBIT
Mattsistayoohkotok
1957 2021

Our family is saddened to announce the sudden passing of loving husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and friend,
Andrew Rabbit Mattsistayoohkotok (Another Stone). Andrew is survived by the love of his life, Micheline; children, Celina (Todd), Christopher, Andrew Jr. “Buster” (Shontae), Larissa, Scotty, Randis, Quinton, Shay and adopted daughter Wanda; Grandpa was so proud of his grandchildren, Lacey (Kelvin), Cassius, Destiny, Christopher, Layla, Stacey, Karl Jr. “Sonny,” Kirby, Rochelle(Curtis), Kathy, Scotty Jr., Dayton, Stacey, Chase, Kondel, Ivyann, Israel, Uriah, Tonishay, Tyne, and seven great grandchildren; brothers, Bruce (Trina) Iron Shirt and Wayne Day Chief; Aunt Myrna Chief Moon and great aunt whom he loved as a sister, Francis Gros Ventre Boy already miss him and other family from Weaselhead and Rabbit families that he dearly loved.
Dad received his first learning experience at the St. Mary’s residential school and later in Cardston exceling in sports. In 1987 he married Micheline Not Useful from Siksika. Dad loved spending time with his wife having long conversations or playing bass guitar for her at home while she sang, he was too shy to play in public but enjoyed their jam sessions. Their love of music brought them to many music festivals where Mom sang and Dad was in the audience.  Dad was a good provider maintaining steady employment first as a security guard then a driver with medical transportation at Blood Tribe Health Department. Dad did not have many jobs but those he held were for many many years.  He had strong work ethics and was extremely dedicated often arriving first and leaving last. Dad was working with Home Care at time of his passing, his co-workers at Blood Tribe Department of Health will miss him and remember his daily greeting ``Good morning, Indians”. When we were young Dad made sure we had a good and safe home, he supported us in education and sports.  One  highlight was travelling to Europe for hockey with son Buster. Dad made sure we experienced fun outings with family, from family gatherings to Calgary Stampede to hockey games to cheer on our brother and others. Fun times were had when we were brought along to fastball tournaments all over the place in Manitoba or Nevada, where we got to see the athleticism of all our uncles on the team of the Levern Blues. Siksika celebrations were an annual thing with moms family. Other heartfelt rituals dad carried out was a special trip to see daughter the late Andrea Two Horns and his granddaughter's Lacy and Cassius.  We knew we could depend on Dad for anything there were very few times that he did not come through for us.
We knew dad had a strong bond with each of the grandchildren but he had an extra special relationship with Sonny.  Dad was going through a liver transplant and Celina was pregnant with Sonny, Dad knew he would see the unborn child. That special relationship with Sonny resulted in Dad doing everything for his youngest grandson. Dad carried him everywhere, cooked for him, bathed him, and introduced him to hockey taking him to all the practises and games. Dad was a devout Catholic attending church every Sunday, he made certain we were all baptized. In his pastime dad listened to music, we could hear his music playing loud throughout the house everyday after school, he stayed active often exercising on his bike. Dad loved to chat with friends and relatives, aunt Rita Many Fingers, Oliver Gros Ventre Boy, Evelynn Across The Mountain, Katie Rabbit-Young Pine friend Woody Beebe, and  friends in Siksika. We will miss him so much he was a kind and gentle soul.
