GALE PATRICK ROBERTS, beloved husband of Gail, passed away in Cardston on January 30th, 2020 at the age of 77 years. He was born in Calgary on March 13th, 1942, the second son of Claude and Frances Roberts. He is survived by his wife; children James, Kelly, Ben and Joddi; step-sons Don & Phil; siblings Darwin, Dennis (dec.), Larry, Elaine, Janice, Al Roy, Debra, and Teresa.
Gale’s early education was at the Woolford School close to where the Church used to be. He caught polio when he was around 9 years old. He spent two weeks of his illness in the intensive care unit in Lethbridge, where there was an iron lung available in case it was needed. He was then transferred to Calgary where he spent almost two years in the Crippled Children’s Hospital. Gale served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Lamanites in Montana and the Dakotas. After serving his mission, he attended a meat cutting school in Toledo, Ohio where he graduated with honors. He was offered a job cutting meat for the Buy-Mor Store in Cardston. He later transferred to Edmonton for a couple of years and then returned to Cardston cutting meat for the Cardston and Bow Island IGA for many years. In recent years Gale’s health declined and his wife Neva Gail has been ministering to his needs.
Life has been tough for Gale, however, he has been a “Peacemaker” and his motto was “Forever Young”.
