PATRICIA LEE SCOUT-SOOP “I’kakaakii” (Small Woman) passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta on January 8, 2019, at the age of 46 years old.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 30 years Tommy Soop Sr, one son Tommy (Nicole) Soop Jr., Tori (Lowell Little Bear) Soop, Patrice Soop; Grandchildren Durell, Telise, Drake, Kassius, Dante, Lilly and Lucas, Tamia, Alayna, Lexi, Benny, Heartly, Adley; One brother, Vince (Carrie); 5 sisters Justine (Cletus Big Throat), Anita, Vicki (Jim), Heather (Craig) and Ashley (James); Aunts RoseAnn (Justin), Alma, Lena (Newton), Kelli (Vince), Flora (Don); Uncles Ben Jr. (Audrey), Lavern (Ann), Charlie, Jordan Chief Moon Sr.; Adopted sons Chucky (Bambi), Benji (Tierra), Coleman (Holly); Adopted mothers Selena Goodstriker, Delores Noade; Sisters-in-Law Charlotte, Terry (Kevin) and Michelle (Brent); and her best friend Carmen Sweetgrass-Singer.
Patricia was born on January 13, 1972 at Cardston Municipal Hospital. In her early years she grew up in Fish Creek, Standoff, Lethbridge, Raymond and then later moved back to Fish Creek until she met and married her husband, Tommy Soop. She then moved to Calgary with him. After about 4 years, they moved back to the Blood Reserve and settled in the Bull Camp area. There they raised their children and farmed and ranched. Patricia enjoyed family gatherings, Christmas dinners and barbeques. She liked gardening, picking mint and cooking. Most of all, Patricia doted over her children and grandchildren, especially when it was their birthdays, Christmas and all special occasions. She was inseparable with her grandsons Durell and Lucas, who she called her “thunder buddy”. Patricia was the greatest fan, fundraiser, supporter, coach and manager for her grandsons Kassius’ and Drake’s hockey and she was so proud of them. She was a very caring, joyful, supportive, loving mother, wife and grandmother. Her family meant the world to her. She always kept a clean and tidy home and she made sure her children and grandchildren were well taken care of.
Patricia attended Standoff, Levern, Cardston, Raymond, Glenwood and Lethbridge schools throughout her elementary and high school years. Later, she attended the University of Lethbridge in the late 90s.
Predeceased by parents Victoria Scout and Ronnie Black Plume; Grandparents Ben Sr. and Sarah Scout; Aunts Freda, Rosetta, Catherine Scout; Uncles Ken, Martin Scout; Father-in-law Eddie Soop Sr. and Eddie Soop Jr.; Cousins Bentley Chief Moon, Kassie Soop, Melodie Scout, Simon Scout.
