Gloria Carrie (née Weasel Fat) Shade
1954-2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gloria Carrie Shade who passed away peacefully at home. Carrie was born August 24, 1954 in Cardston at the Blood Indian Hospital. Carrie was the beloved wife of Justin Shade, mother of Lesley and Kieven (Melissa), grandchildren Shoshonii Many Grey Horses, Ta-Liyah Shade, Jane Shade and great grandchild Winter Many Grey Horses. She was predeceased by her son Jason Weaselfat, daughter Janice Olivia Shade and Lane Shade. She was raised on the Blood Reserve. She attended the St. Paul's Residential School for six years and then attended High School in High River as well as the Cardston School System.
Carrie was smart, kind, loving, patient and understanding. Carrie also had a great passion for sewing, cooking, reading, a good sense of humour but the most important thing to her was to spoil her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Carrie at one time wanted to be a hair dresser and experimented on her younger sisters and nieces. Carrie loved her husband very much and spent her time being a stay at home wife.
Her maternal parents were Fred and Verdun Weaselfat. She was born from a large family, sisters Ilona (Gordon) Plain Woman, Rosella (Art) Sweet Grass, Freda White, Virna (Burton) Many Fingers, Sally Weaselfat, Rennie Many Guns, Bill (Brenda) Weaselfat, Terry (Sonny) Wadsworth, Fred (Carla) Weaselfat, Dorothy (Pepsi) Rose WeaselFat. Her in-laws Chris (Sandra) Shade and Mavis (Dennis) Shade. She was predeceased by her nephews Curtis Weasel Moccasin, Israel Weasel Moccasin, nieces Kristen Weasel Moccasin and great nephew Duggan Weasel Moccasin, nieces (infant daughter of Freda), Alexis Snow White, infant daughter Rhondi Lynn, niece Kim (Sheldon) Twigg, great niece Lacey Twigg, great great niece Brielle Twigg and nephew Clinton Jr.
A Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Thursday, June 20th at 4:00 p.m. followed by the
Wake Service at Legacy Funeral Home from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall on Friday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be sent by CLICKING HERE.
