It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend Kristy Racine Shouting on November 21, 2022 in Lethbridge, Alberta. Kristy was born on December 14, 1992 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Don Bottle and Yvonne Gros Ventre Boy. Kristy attended grade schools on the Blood Reserve and within Westwind School Division and School District 51. Kristy also attended Bow Valley College in 2015 where she was on the Honour Roll and received numerous scholarships for her academic achievements.
Kristy was close to all her siblings, in their own way, and was always heard laughing wherever she was. Kristy welcomed her first born, and best friend, Bentley Shouting into this world in 2010. Bentley brought so much joy into his mom’s life and Kristy was eager to raise and teach him all that she knew about life. Their bond was full of love, laughter, kindness, and could be seen by the way they looked and cared for each other. Kristy had two children with Everett Mistaken Chief (predeceased) Everleigh Dawn on July 25, 2016, and Hunter Cam on March 17, 2017. Kristy always made sure to let her children know that she loved them and cared for them, despite her hardships. She loved to bake with her son Bently when she would come home. They spent a lot of time together even if it was just for a few days most times listening to music while he showed all his sculptures to his mom. Bently knew when she was not well and he'd take good care of her and made sure she ate and had lots of fluids. She always told her son that she would be safe and will look forward to her next visit upon leaving. Every Christmas and birthday there were always gifts waiting somewhere to be delivered to her children and always followed with a phone call or facetime.
Kristy was always so excited when her nieces and nephews were being welcomed into this world. She would dedicate time to welcome each child into the family with her own special trademark. Whether was painting her nephews’ rooms with her sisters or making little trinkets for her nieces. Kristy was especially close to her sisters Daisy and Rochelle as they transitioned into adulthood. They were always seen together laughing and smiling. Their personalities complemented one another and brough forward a special bond that could be witnessed by anyone in their presence.
Kristy was creative and loved to “alter” her clothing. She had a passion for fashion and was known to wear one-of-a-kind creations. She was artistic from the moment she could hold a paintbrush, pencil, and even more so when she learned how to sew and cut fabric… or in her case her clothes. She had a level of feistiness that shook the ground she walked on, highlighting her exuberant personality and her ability to be creative and show love for everyone she came in contact with. This was evident when she proclaimed that she had new “sisters” to add to the family: Taylor, Chloe, Bear, and Chivaughn Singer. Although they started out as neighbours, they continued to be present throughout the course of their life. Taylor and Kristy were the bestest of friends and supported each other through the milestone of becoming mothers. The family would also like to acknowledge the honorary relative family members Dustin, Allen, and Snow Steinhauer and Kristen Tallow along with Nikea Chiefmoon.
Kristy worked hard, and although she had many struggles in her life, she was always looking for the positive side of life and could be heard laughing from a distance. If she seen you from afar, she would call out your name, and come running to give you a hug and ask about life. This approach to life was taught to her by her parents and they always encouraged her to try hard in life and to be kind to those that she met in life. Kristy was always willing to help those that needed it and would always remind her parents, children, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends how much she cared and loved them at the end of every visit usually ending with a long hug and the words “I love you”. Kristy loved life and loved to laugh, which was infectious to anyone who met her and had the chance to sit and joke around with her. The ability to laugh at life and love unconditionally is what Kristy leaves behind for those that knew her.
