DEANA SMALL EYES
JUNE 13, 1972 – DECEMBER 28, 2021
It is with a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of our Daughter; Mother; Sister; loved one Deana Small Eyes on December 28, 2021 at the age of 49 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital.
Deana was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on June 13, 1972 to proud mom Delphine Small Eyes and Biological father (Late) Darius Long Time Squirrel.
Deana is survived by her mother Delphine Small Eyes; Step Father Chris No Chief her children Nicole; Carson (Daelyn) Small Eyes; Tuff-Jimmy Jr. and Jesse Bad Man; Zaybra and Zana Scout. Grandchildren: Alfreda; Stanley; Benjamin; Kendrick Small Eyes. Sisters Yolanda Brave Rock; Deirdre Chief Body; Pam (Steve) Long Time Squirrel; Brothers: Leonard Brave Rock; Patrick Small Eyes; Shawn (Carolyn) Chief Body; Lyle Cameron Hunt/Long Time Squirrel.
Deana’s Aunt’s: Bonita Long Time Squirrel; Marianne Buckskin and Sandra (Chris) Shade; Agnus; Pearline; Noreen; Tanya Heavy Runner; Marlene (Tom) Good Rider; Collen (Tiny-Gerald) Tailfeathers; Uncles: Michael Delaney; William (Adaline) Long Time Squirrel; Les (Maryann); Wes (Sharon); Heavy Runner and Curtis Tailfeathers. Numerous Nieces and Nephews, each holding a special place in her heart.
Deana was predeceased by: Her father Darius Long Time Squirrel; her Grandparents: Alfreda and Adam Delaney; Tom and Nellie Long Time Squirrel; Lester Heavy Runner; Great Grandparents: George and Rosie Small Eyes; Aunts: Sylvia; Mary; Blondine; Theresa; and Deana Long Time Squirrel. Uncles: Adam (Sonny D) Delaney; Thomas; Clarence; Conrad; Marlon Long Time Squirrel; Brian Buckskin.
Great Aunts and Uncles: Beatrice (Joe) Shouting; Molly; Tereasa Small Eyes; George Jr.-Samuel (Debi) Small Eyes; Frank and Francis Small Eyes; Charlie (Irene); Herbert (Louise); Thomas Bullshields. Nephews: Lenny and Jarett Brave Rock and Niece Willow Three Person-Brave Rock.
Deana was a Kiipiitapoka as her Great Grand Parents, George and Rosie Small Eyes helped her mom raise her for a few years on the Blood Reserve. (Moccasin Flats)
Deana spent time with both her families the Small Eyes and Long Time Squirrel and she held her cousins close in her heart and considered them her sisters and brothers.
Deana moved to Lethbridge with her mother and step father Chris No Chief where they resided for a number of years. Deana attended the Cardston Elementary School and continuing on to Fleetwood Bawden Elementary School, Lethbridge Ab; Gilbert Patterson; and LCI.
Deana had her first child Nicole and a few years later her son Carson Small Eyes. She met her husband Jimmy Bad Man and they married in the Mormon Church, Lethbridge Ab and she had her two sons, Tuff-Jimmy Jr. and Jesse Bad Man. Life went on for Deana and she met the father of her two daughters Zaybra and Zana Scout. She was happy with her family and often said she was complete with her children which were her pride and joy. She would often speak of her children’s accomplishments and wanted to keep family up to date on how her children were doing. With the hardship Deana encountered and her family was taken from her and she often would speak of how she wanted her family reunited under one roof.
Deana was always the out going person and she would be the brave one to go and experience the things her cousins would not dare do. She was always greeting her cousins as sister or brother and each one has stories to tell. One of them stories always starting with “This Crazy Deana”
Deana touched many lives with her kind spirit, making friends wherever she went. Deana is a very beautiful woman with a kind spirit and humility and a keen sense of humour that made you feel comfortable talking to her, with this she will be missed greatly.
She was especially close to her adopted sister Marie (Healy) No Runner and adopted brother Bucky Healy, and spoke of their kindness they showed her.
Extended Families: Russell; Crazy Boy; Calf Robe; Wolf Plume; Bird; Bullshields; Day Chiefs; Heavy Runners; Jeffersons; Carpenters. Deana comes from a large extended families and she touched many lives with her humility and compassion for others. She was a beautiful lady that would greet you with a smile and her ability to make you feel comfortable with her keen sense of humour. She would often say, when departing ways “I Love You, don’t be mad at me, “k”.
Our Hearts are Heavy as we say Thank You to our Creator for Gifting us Time with Deana.

A Wake service will be held at Streets Alive Mission, 323 4 Street S, Lethbridge on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The Funeral service will follow at Legacy Funeral Home on Thursday, January 6 at 11:00 am.
Covid Restrictions Exemption Program will be in effect at the funeral, proof of vaccination or a negative Covid 19 test (within 72 hours) required, and masking is mandatory.
