
CHERYL ANN SMITH, passed away on October 1, 2023 in Calgary, AB at the age of 47 years.
Cheryl Ann Smith was born October 28, 1975 to Donna Marie (Cotton) Smith and the late Gary Russell Smith from Toronto. Cheryl was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She leaves to mourn her four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Sharise Smith, Taylor Smith, and Isadora (Kie) Smith; her siblings, Edmund Blue, Shelley L Smith (No Chief), Rueben Cody Smith, and Deanna Grace Smith; her grandmother, Grace. She was predeceased by her daughter Brittany Smith; also her four beautiful grandchildren, Sylvester, Dominic, Amare and Trayvon; grandmother, Grace Hiembecker, Diane and Vincent Smith, Carol Cotton, Margaret Cotton, Roland Cotton, Donald Cotton, and Frankie Scout. Her grandparents Frank and Annie Cotton; her aunts, Edwardine Fair, Carrie R. and Lucecilia Cotton. Cheryl had many relatives. Cheryl was raised on the Blood Reserve by the Buttes. Her mom Donna recalls how she carried Cheryl as a baby while cooking , cleaning, and going places. She attended Vauxhall elementary, Stand Off Day School, Nicholas Sheran elementary, Cardston and Fort Macleod schools. After her children were born she went back to Red Crow for upgrading then to the University of Lethbridge. She worked with Greystokes home care. She was on the W.A.P. program. She resided at St. Paul’s then Lethbridge; she moved to Calgary with her late daughter Brittany. She passed away in Calgary in October. Cheryl was an intelligent person and independent at an early age. She always had a smile on her face, she enjoyed reading and going for long walks.
The Wake Service will be held on Thursday, October 12 at Holy Ground Ministries, Old Agency Road, Blood Reserve from 7:00 pm continuing all night. The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 13 at Holy Ground Ministries, Old Agency Road, Blood Reserve at 11:00 am. Interment will follow the service at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Stand Off.
