Vanessa Spear Chief

Vanessa was born on June 22, 1991, in Lethbridge, Alberta to her parents, Ranae Spear Chief and Melvin Whiteman Left. Vanessa passed away suddenly in Lethbridge AB on November 19, 2021, at the age of 30 years old. Vanessa is survived by her Loving Children Tory, Ryder and T.J., Father Melvin, sister Kandice, brother Andy Spear Chief and Grandmother Teresa Whiteman Left. Uncles; Curtis, Ricky (Geraldine), Daniel (Bobbie) WML, Shine and Nathan Spear Chief. Aunty: Noreen Wolfchild extended aunties, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention.
Vanessa was cared for right from birth by grand parents Alphonse and Teresa as they took on the role as parents, therefore she became a kiipi tai poka. Vanessa was always right there with the old folks everywhere they went they could never leave her as she was their baby. When she got a little older, she thought that they were her real parents and thinking her dad, Melvin was her older brother until Mom explained to her that they were her grandparents on the paternal side.
Vanessa’s schooling began at the Standoff Elementary School, she later went on to Tatsikisapo’p Middle School. One of her years while still in Jr high she attendant JR Davis for a year before she attended the reserve school. Vanessa attended the Kainai High School as well but never completed. During her time in school, she was always involved in sports, she was the type to challenge herself to succeed in different sports as well as activities. She was a shy person but eventually overcame it.
Vanessa’s hobbies included fishing and camping, she enjoyed with the cuzzins. She did a lot of artwork and sketching standing out, another passion was Beading, her last project was key chains with the last names. She was humorous and loved making people smile and laugh. She loved travelling especially with the grandparents, everywhere they went she was there and couldn’t be left. She met Travis and together they had three beautiful children. She made a home and cared for her children until things became rough for her. She had many challenges in her life and always managed to pull through with her qualities and strength.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, she was predeceased by her mother Ranae, Grandparents; Alphonse WML, Gordon & Harriet Good Dagger, Uncle Marvin & Aunty Alitha Spear Chief.
A Wake Service will be held at Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, December 10 at 11:00 am with Father Pawel Andrasz officiating. Interment to follow at Blood Band Cemetery, Blood Reserve, AB.
