Nora Thompson Stone-Campbell
August 30, 1927 ~ January 25, 2021
Sadly, we announce the peaceful passing of NORA THOMPSON STONE-CAMPBELL of Cardston, formerly from Raymond and Calgary, Alberta. She was born in Ryhope, England and met and married Gordon Young Stone of Raymond, Alberta, in England, during the war, who brought her back to Raymond where she and Gordon raised 5 wonderful children: Bill (Lynette), of Boise, Idaho, Dennis (Karen) of Calgary, Sharon (Jim) Schaffer of Cardston, Robert (Dianna) of Calgary, and Kevin (Dana) of Calgary. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend and sister-in-law Lois Robinson of Cardston.
She is lovingly referred to as “Pink Nana” by 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Nora was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many responsibilities. Her most memorable callings include teaching the youth of Southern Alberta, with Gordon, to dance ballroom style. She could really cut a rug! She had a beautiful soprano voice and performed countless times delighting audiences through her life, including the lead in many musical productions.
Gordon was killed in a car accident in 1981. While serving a mission for the church in the Washington D.C. Temple, she met and married Logan B. Campbell, of New Hampshire, USA, also serving there. They returned to make their home in Calgary. Soon after, Mom and Logan decided to serve another mission and were sent to Zimbabwe and then a third to Korea. Logan passed away in 2002. She loved Logan’s family and considered them her own, too.
Some years later she moved to Cardston.
She aged with dignity and grace and always said that her children were her pearls, her greatest treasure.
Due to Covid restrictions we will have a family service at a later date.
